Today, November the 29th is an important and Special day to me. On this day 73 years ago LaVerne and I were married in Memphis, Tennessee. I was one happy man, you should have seen my smile.

We first met in Chattanooga, TN at one of our conventions, and when I saw her I knew that she was for me. We lived about 400 miles apart so we did not have very many chances to be together, but we kept the mail man busy during that time. I was always watching to see if he was going to stop at my house.

I DID GET TO VISIT HER THREE TIMES BEFORE WE WERE MARRIED. SHE DID NOT MARRY ME FOR MY MONEY BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE ANY. WE WERE POOR BUT HAPPY, AND WE MARRIED BECAUSE WE LOVED ONE ANOTHER AND WANTED TO BE TOGETHER THE REST OF OUR LIFE.

SNOWFLAKES AND DEAR ONES

LaVerne passed away May 11 1974, over 34 years ago, and I still miss her sweet smile and her kindness to me

Two of our preachers were here for her funeral, Sherman and George, and I remember things that were said about her. Sherman mentioned Proverbs chapter 31 about the virtuous woman, and George mentioned about LaVerne's kindness. He was remembering times when he would be coming to our home that she would always have the ice cream that she knew he liked.

One of the hymns was " Live for others every day, ti's the true the better way." And LaVerne truly did this. Dad.

I would like to tell you a lot more about our Happy life together, but I am afraid it would get a little long. Like the time that Jim and Mary arrived on the scene, and what they meant to us. I have left out a lot that I would have liked to tell you, maybe I will do that at a later time.

This is all that I am going to have for this weekend. You know that I do not write on Sunday but I do think about you. I will see you Monday morning if all is well. Sending Love to all of you. Smile for me.

You know that I can not begin untill I have had my coffee, so you know where I am. It and the tea will be ready in about five minuets and then I will talk to you with maybe a smile, at least I will try to be friendly. It is now 3:30 a.m. and I am a little tired. I am sure that you you can see why by looking at the pictures above.

The tea and coffee is ready and I am having a cup, sit down and I will see that you get yours, I can smile now.

We did have a good time yesterday, The whole White clan was there. There were four generations represented, And I can tell you this with pride we were all on speaking terms, and we want to keep it that way. Life is too short to do otherwise. I did get a lot of hugs and good wishes yesterday.

Good Morning.

I am hopeing that you are feeling good this morning, I am sure that the most of us will be home fo Thanksgiving, no work today and maybe a long weekend. Do be careful on these busy highwasy while you are out there.

Mary and I are leaving early this morning for Kingsport to be with all the family for a big dinner and visit with them. We will be returning early in the afternoon.

And about the picture at the top of the page. Some one sent that to me in an email. I do not know who the picture belongs too, but I want to give credut to someone for it, if fits in so good with the day. Please let me know if it is not alright to use it. DAD .

How is everything going with you this morning ? I am still feeling good, even able to smile here at 3 a.m. there have been days before that started out that way and then things changed before the day was over. So we wan't to be on the lookout, if we are prepared we can face it.

Tomorrow is thanksgiving day here in America, now I am not against thanksgiving day, I enjoy it very much but I would like to make every day of the year thanksgiving day. Wake up every morning thanking God for all his blessings and his tender mercy to me.

As you can see by the picture above ( which was taken by Mary,) that I do have tomatoes on my mind, I know that it is a few months away yet but it will be here soon. That makes me smile.

We all Need a Tree! ( I am sure that I do.Dad.)

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. 'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.' 'Funny thingis,' he smiled, 'when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before-- *Jeff*

Mary and I had a very nice and profitable sunday, our good meeting at 10 .A.M. and then a nice lunch at home that Mary had prepared, fried chicken, green beans and baked potatoes and some of the best coffee that could be made, and I think that you would know what happened after that, my evening nap.

We will be going to Kingsport early Thursday morning, we are having A delicious Thanksgiving dinner with Jim and Beverly and the entire White family. We do this every year and it is an enjoyable day. We will be back home in the early evening. I wish that all of you could stop in.

We contacted Blogspot and they are working on getting it restored. In the meantime, would you please make a note in your journal November 21 and let people know where I am for now.
