Here is my thought for the weekend.
.
LOVING WORDS.
.
'' LOVING WORDS WILL COST BUT LITTLE, JOURNEYING UP THE HILL OF LIFE. BUT THEY MAKE THE WEAK AND WEARY STRONGER , BRAVER FOR THE STRIFE. DO YOU COUNT THEM ONLY TRIFLES ? WHAT TO EARTH ARE SUN AND RAIN ? NEVER WAS A KIND WORD SPOKEN, NEVER ONE WAS SAID IN VAIN.
.
" WHEN THE CARES OF LIFE ARE MANY, AND THE BURDENS HEAVY GROW, THINK OF WEAK ONES CLOSE BESIDE YOU--- iF YOU LOVE THEM TELL THEM SO. WHAT YOU COUNT OF LITTLE VALUE HAS AN ALMOST MAGIC POWER, AND BENEATH THEIR CHEERING SUNSHINE HEARTS WILL BLOSSOM LIKE A FLOWER.

" SO AS UP LIFE'S HILL WE JOURNEY, LET US SCATTER ALL THE WAY, KINDLY WORDS FOR THEY ARE SUNSHINE IN THE DARK AND CLOUDY DAY. GRUDGE NO LOVING WORDS OR ACTION AS ALONG THROUGH LIFE YOU GO, THERE ARE WEARY ONES AROUND YOU IF YOU LOVE THEM TELL THEM SO.."

His name is Boggin, he is the light colored one. Her name was originally Dolly, but I am calling her Dolly Cinnamon, trying to convert her to just Cinnamon as a new name for her. I don't think she cares what you call her as long as you have a bucket of sweet feed for her! LOL! Kelly.

If I should be sick some morning I am wondering if Oreo & Misty would come to see me over here at my little office. Our first fall trek (and the first without Laura) is the first weekend in November. There will be a few changes in our operations since Laura is gone. I will certainly keep you posted. The link above takes you to the one that Laura and I have use for several years. Lucy.

I made it fine with my eye doctor appointment yesterday. When we arrived, they asked me to fill out a form with health information etc. I filled it out without my glasses. So anyway the doctor examined my eyes and told me that most people who are in their nineties have some macular degeneration, but he said that I don't. He seemed surprised. He also said that as long as I'm seeing as well as I am, to just leave off the glasses. So that was it! I feel very thankful that I am blessed with good eyesight. I am writing this without glasses.

.

I know that you are going to be upset with me, I got so interested in all that stuff above that I forgot about our Starbucks Coffee . I hope that you still have time to wait. I can have a cup for you in about 5 minuets. Sorry about this. DAD.

I am going to go away now, We all need to get to our work place. I hope that we all can go in to our work place with a great big smile and being real nice and kind to those that work with us. Let them know that you are content and happy, Sending love and good wishes to all of you.

.
I was sorry to hear that Kelly has been real sick, here is a link to her blog http://thechickenchronicles.blogspot.com/ that I hope you can read and let her tell you more. I am sorry Kelly that I did not find out about this sooner. It was my fault, just to busy working on this blog and not watching out for my friends. Dad.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

.
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.. Never let the brain idle.. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge..

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

.

I am in need of my Starbucks Coffee coffee before I go any further, and I hope that some of you will be here with me. It smells so good and I know that it will help us get off to another good start.

.

I am on my way to see my friends this morning. Mary and I enjoyed looking over Sara's blog yesterday afternoon. The pictures are beautiful Sara. And you are doing a wonderful job training these Shelties. Here is where I like to go early in the mornings Sara's Dog Training . DAD.

.

BURNED BISCUITS

When I was a little boy, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad.

I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Baby, I love burned biscuits."
Later that night, I went to tell Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day today and she's real tired. And besides - a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"
You know, life is full of imperfect things.....and imperfect people. I'm not the best housekeeper, cook or the best anything.

What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to celebrate each other's differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship. `

I like that above very much, sent by Sue.

Some people MAKE things happen, some people LET things happen and some people WONDER what happened!!
.
Always Remember This: You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing!!!

.

BANK ACCOUNT
.
This is something we should all remember.A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
.
Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.''That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied.Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.
.
Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.'
.
It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice;I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.
.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in my life.Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.
.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
.
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank.I am still depositing.
.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
.
1. Free your heart from hatred.
.
2. Free your mind from worries.
.
3. Live simply..
.
4. Give more.

5. Expect less.
.
BATS.
.
Did you know that bats help control pests? In fact, some species feast on as many as 1,000 mosquitoes an hour while others dine on thousands of pest beetles and moths a night. Here are some other fascinating facts about bats:
There are more than 1,000 species of bats in the world. All of these bats make up about a quarter of all mammals in existence.
Bats help many plants: Hundreds of plant species rely on the pollinating and seed dispersal services of bats including bananas, avocados and mangos.
Bats are the most diverse group of mammals: The smallest weighs less than a penny and the largest has a wingspan of up to six feet!
Bats are the only mammal that can truly fly.Want to attract bats and other small critters to your yard?

Here is something below That is very good advice. I am going to try and remember to do this. Dad..
.
Why keep aspirin by your bedside?.

.
About Heart Attacks. There are other symptoms of an heart attack besidesthe pain on the left arm.One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.Note: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack. The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. .However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep. If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water..Afterwards - phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by - say "heart attack!" - say that you have taken 2 aspirins. - take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and.... ~ do NOT lie down ~.

"Fruiting crops, including tomatoes, need full sun most of the day for good production of quality fruit. Good drainage is also important. In high to medium rainfall areas (more than 30 inches per year) work the soil into ridges and plant on the ridge or build raised beds 12 to 18 inches deep. Plan on setting out at least one cherry tomato and 4 to 6 large-fruited varieties depending on the number of fresh tomato lovers in your family. You'll need stakes or wire tomato cages to support the plants to keep the fruit off the ground where it would rot. To insure even and efficient watering, you will want to put in a drip or soaker hose system for watering. Finally, count on mulch to keep down the weeds.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & SEVENTY FOUR.

The most of you will know who this is above, if not here name is Princess. When she came to live with Mary and I she was a little kitty weighing only three pounds. She was with us for 11 years but she is gone now. She passed away Feb 14th 09. We miss her so very much and I know that we always will.
..
In the picture above she is sitting with me at the computer as I write my blog. She would do that every morning. Notice how close she is to me you can see the keys and a speaker. She would stay right there until I had finished my blog and then she would go to Marys room and spend the rest of the night. Oh how I miss that. DAD.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & SEVENTY TWO

This is Scottie the SHELTIE that called Dad's home, his home for 12 years, He was the last Sheltie that I owned. I will never forget him. The things that Edgar said in his poem below were so true with Scottie. He was always by my side. He loved to play with his tennis ball and I have the ball here on my desk . His grave is near the base of the flag pole. next too Princess's grave. You may view the sight on Dad's Cam # 1, Sweet Memories. DAD.

Good Morning.
.
.."Begin the day with God."
.
." Time is so precious-do not waste it ."
.
When you were born, you were crying And everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, You're the one who is smiling
And everyone around you is crying.

.
If you will look too your right in my side panel you will see Dad's Tomato Garden Album. Those pictures make me smile. Dad.
.
I did see my doctor yesterday morning, he gave me a real good going over from head to foot and he found every thing in good shape, my blood pressure was 110/80 which he said was real good for me. But he did see a little meanness in me that he said he could not cure, it has been there too long, 96 years. He said that he did not want to see me until 3 months from now. I like my doctor very much I have had him for many years. DAD.
.

A Boy and His Dog.
.
By Edgar Guest

A boy and his dog make a glorious pair:No better friendship is found anywhere,For they talk and they walk and they run and they play,And they have their deep secrets for many a day;And that boy has a comrade who thinks and who feels,Who walks down the road with a dog at his heels.
.
He may go where he will and his dog will be there,May revel in mud and his dog will not care;Faithful he'll stay for the slightest command And bark with delight at the touch of his hand;Oh, he owns a treasure which nobody steals,Who walks down the road with a dog at his heels.
.
No other can lure him away from his side; He's proof against riches and station and pride;Fine dress does not charm him, and flattery's breath Is lost on the dog, for he's faithful to death; He sees the great soul which the body conceals--Oh, it's great to be young with a dog at your heels! .
.
.
I enjoy so much reading any poem that is by Edgar Guest. The one above is one of my favorites. It tells how loyal a dog is to his master, and the ones of us that have owned dogs know that this is so true. I know that Sara would say that it is. I did think of Misty and Oreo when I was reading this. We need to look at them again this morning. Meet me there and smile with me, Sara's Dog Training DAD.
.
The best kind of friends, are the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, Never say a word,
And then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. .
.
I
I smell that Starbucks Coffee and I must have a cup right now, how about you ?
Sit right here in this rocker and I will serve you. DAD
. .
.I have been thinking a lot about tomatoes, I know that it is a little early, but I like to plan early, Here below is something that someone said, I do not know who it was, it is good.
.
" More than any other fruit or vegetable, the tomato has changed the face of modern cuisine. Whether you toss chopped tomatoes into a beef stew, slide a few slices into a BLT, or layer them with their soul mate, basil, tomatoes have become ubiquitous."
.
.
.
.Nothing beats a beautiful view of the Smokies, notice that the leaves are changing. I noticed there was snow up there a few day ago..Dad.
.
Now here is the kind of a weather report that I like to give you thanks to AOL
.
Today,,10/21/09

Plenty of sunshine. High 73F. Winds light and variable.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & SEVENTY ONE

Good Morning,
.
.."Begin the day with God."
.
" Time is so precious-do not waste it ."
.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day which says, "I will try again tomorrow".
My good friend VICKI who lives in Birmimgham sent me this above.
.

Fishin' and A-Wishin'

.
Out on the lake in my little boat, Hoping for a catfish to pull on the float, A catch would help my present disposition, Sittin' in my boat, fishin' and a-wishin'.
.
Baloney sandwich's tastin' good, Everything a-goin' just the way it should. My float goes underwater, And I know I have a bite. .
"Bring on that fish," I say, "I'm ready for a fight!" The rod goes in the water, My sandwich follows suit, That old Grand Daddy catfish Is such a stubborn brute!

.
And so I say to all of you Who never have gone fishin', Don't miss the fun that you can have, Just Fishin' and a-Wishin'.

We need to stop in this morning and see our friends Sara, Misty and Oreo. I want to thank you Sara for those new pictures that you have made. They are beautiful and Misty seems so happy and she looks like that she is feeling good. If any of you want to go with me this morning come on here is the only way to get there just click on this Sara's Dog Training and we are there. Now smile. Dad.
.
.
When Sam read about my experience working in a grocery store Dad's Grocery Store Days he sent me this below, and it was just so good I wanted to let you read it,, THANKS Sam.
.
.DAD,THIS ENTRY BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES TO ME OF THE COUNTRY STORE THAT OUR FAMILY OPERATED IN THE FLINTROCK HILLS OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA.THIS WAS ALSO IN THE 1930S AS WAS YOUR STORE .
.
EXPERIENCES.SOMETIMES HAD TO SHOO A CAT OUT OF A BARREL TO FILL AN ORDER.OUR FAMILY COUNTRY STORE WAS A MUCH SMALLER OPERATION THAN THE ONE YOU WORKED IN, DAD.DURING WINTER MONTHS WE HAD A POT BELLIED HEATING STOVE IN THE CENTER PART OF THE AREA WHERE NEIGHBORING FARMERS AND AN OCCASIONAL TOURIST GATHERED AROUND TELLING TALES, SOMETIMES QUESTIONABLE.
.
AS NOW, THERE WERE THEN SOME THAT ALSO TALKED WITH THEIR HANDS. GETTING INTO THE HEART OF THE STORY AND GYRATING HANDS AND ARMS, THE BANANA STALK HANGING FROM THE CEILING SUFFERED SOME BACKHAND BLOWS AS THE ARM WAS ADDING EMPHASIS TO THE STORY.DAD I AM SURE THERE MUST HAVE BEEN STALKS OF BANANAS HANGING IN THE STORE YOU WORKED IN, THEY JUST DID NOT APPEAR IN YOUR PHOTO.

.THE KEROSENE BARREL WAS KEPT OUTSIDE, NEVER LOCKED. A CUSTOMER COULD FILL THEIR OWN CAN AND LET US KNOW HOW MUCH TO CHARGE. THE PRICE WAS TEN CENTS A GALLON.THERE WERE NO ELECTRIC LINES IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, SO OF COURSE LAMPS USED A LOT OF KEROSENE.
.
ANOTHER ITEM SOLD IN SPRING AND SUMMER WAS ONE HUNDRED POUND BAGS OF CANE SUGAR. BLACKBERRY TIME MEANT CANNING TIME FOR BERRIES AND JELLY MAKING. THESE TIMES WERE THE GREAT DEPRESSION TIMES AND MOST FAMILIES WERE THINKING AHEAD FOR THE COMING WINTER'S FOOD SUPPLY. THEN TOO WERE VEGETABLES, FRUIT INCLUDING PLUMS, PEACHES, APPLES, GRAPES FOR JUICE AND WINE.NOT TO FORGET FOOD FOR THE HORSES AND COWS. FILL THAT BARN LOFT WITH HAY AND OATS IN THE GRAIN BINS.
.
WE 'UNS BACK YONDER IN THEM THAR HILLS IN THE OZARK FOOTHILLS HAINT HAD HIT BADLY LACK THIM CITY 'UNS.WE HEERED UV THE SOUP LINES AN TAKE YUR BUCKIT TO GIT SUPPER.(THOUGHT THE MODERN DAY CHILDREN WOULD ENJOY HEARING HOW SOME OLD TIMERS TALKED.)

HOPEFULLY NO MORE DEPRESSIONS.sam Posted by Sayit-baldys to Dads Tomato Garden.

.
In Happy moments, praise God.
.
In Difficult moments, seek God.
.
In Quiet moments, worship God.
.
In Painful moments, trust God.
.
In Every moment, thank God
.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, Because it takes only a smile to
Make a dark day seems bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile!

.
I have a nice weather report here this Tuesday morning from AOL.
.
Today.10/20/09
.
Mainly sunny. High 71F. Winds light and variable.

,
I do need to go, I have an appointment with that Doctor of mine at an early hour 8 a.m. He wants me to see him every 4 month whether I feel bad or not. I do feel real good this morning, my sleep was restful. I will be back in the morning if all is well.
