Report on Jim.
Beveryy called at 9:15 A.M.
Jim is fine every thing went well, the doctor said that he could go home Friday. DAD

Jim called me around noon today from his hospital bed, and he reported that he was feeling good, and he is anxious get home and begin to get able to walk again and above all to fish again

And this has been one day of rain, it has been falling all morning. 0.66 inches the last time that I checked. It is a little quite here today, maybe Xmas shoping has begun. DAD

This is my last update.At 5:P.M Jim is still doing good, looking forward to going home, and I want to tell you about our rain this day, 1:76 inches have fell since I began working this morn, and it is still falling I will see you in the morning ,BYE.

The first thing that I am going to tell you this mornin is that Jim my son is going to have a knee replacement this morning, He enters the hosptal at 7 A.M. He is the one that writes Tennessee Granddaddy . Here is his email address jrw5255@gmail.com.

Well this is # 2 on our new 5 day schedule that I am enjoying so much, It is a good thing that I have this or I might have had to stop altogether, and you know that I don't plan to ever do that as long as I am able to peck on this keyboard, and a mind well enough to come up with a few thoughts to make you smile, and how to produce tomatoes. My friend Joan sent me this article below, I think that it is interesting. If we do not have permission to use it would you let me know and we will gladly remove. Dad.

I get cards to purchase from all different organizations in their efforts to raise money. The photo on this card and the brief bio of the woman Sherida caught my attention because of the "Tomatoes". For this woman, tomatoes are her business and keep her family feed, clothed, and schooled.


Sherida Mkama: mother of 10 and owner of a produce business, Village Bank member in Tanzania

Sherida began selling tomatoes in 1995, starting her small business with only $10. All of her profits went towards her family's basic needs.

In 1998, Sherida heard of an organization that offered loans to women in her area. She used the money from the loan to purchase parts for her bicycle used to transport the tomatoes.
She also purchased seeds and fertilizer and began to cultivate her own tomato garden.

MONDAYS ENTRY TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THIRTY SIX

Good Morning.

How are you feeling on this Monday morning, it seems so long since I talked to you, but it was only Friday. Any way a lot has happened since then. We did have a nice time at Jim and Beverly's on thanksgiving day, but I was one tired man. I am glad to get back in my slow motion, that's the only way that I can operate.
.
I have missed getting my good Sumatra x bold coffee, not many people were using it that we visited ( My grandson Kevin gave me 2 pounds of Sumatra while we were in Kingsport, he had read what I had said about it.) And most of all I missed my friends Sara, Misty and Oreo, but I know how to get there. Here it is and I am going to click on Sara's Dog Training blog and let Sara bring me up to date.

The picture above is of the ones that were at our Thanksgiving day dinner at Jim and Beverly. We had a good time, I was tired after the long day, but I did enjoy myself. I may not be able to give you very much early this morning, but you

Wednesday has arrived and we are doing very good I think. I just have to say something about my new schedule, it is wonderful, I feel like a new man, I am here this morning a 3 A.M full of pep and ready to go out and face this cold cruel world, and with help from above I know that I can have a good day. For a while I have been bothered with my throat, not able to speak or sing, I thought that my doctor had fixed that, but is has come back I hope only temporarily, I do feel some better this morning, DAD

I like this little thought above and maybe we should talk along that line ths morning. The need of being calm and content in this cold and cruel world. Mary and I are so glad for our wednesday night bible study, We are studying Exodus chapters 11 and 12, these little meetings seem to help me to keep going in the right direction.

One of my friends told me that he knew that it helped to worry- he said, " Nothing that I worry about ever happens "

How are you feeling this tuesday morning ? We made it through monday and we are sure that we are going to have another good day. I am enjoying my new 5 day plan so much, I am feeling much better. But there is one thing that I am not going to change, that is the time that I write this Journal, it will still be 3 A.M. I am always awake at that hour, usually feeling good and anxious to get to work. And I have always enjoyed the quietness of the early morning, best time to meditate.

Very often you hear me say, What should we talk about next ? I think that I know this morning. I need a cup of Sumatra x bold coffee, and I have a few friends that are like me on that, and then I want to stop in and see how Sara, Misty and Oreo are getting along. They are my friends. Jim says,"The biggest trout was 3 1/2 pounds. One of the catfish weighed 5 pounds."

I am so well pleased with my new 5 day plan of writing this journal, Monday through Friday, you may find me a little easier to get along with and not being in a bad complaining mood so much of the time, I think that Mary has already saw a little change, I saw her with a little grin on her face yesterday.

I am sure that you know that young man above with that string of fish. If not, it is the best son that I have, Jim and he likes to fish as much as a "cat loves cream ". I tried to find out which TVA lake he was fishing in and he would not tell me,DAD.

Good Morning.

I did not intend to publish this journal today, I have been encouraged by some of my readers and my family to stop. I have been writing this for over 7 years, but I am going to let this be my last one for a while on Saturday. I will still have 5 journals each week as usual

This is going to give me some time to relax and enjoy thinking about how good God has been too me

Mary and I have a few plans, East Tenn is a very historic region, The Civil war and many more. we plan to travel to every interesting spot that we can find and bring it to you in picture and story, and when we have finished here move out to other spots.

And we want to tell you that we feel that we have the very best Doctors and that Vanderbilt is the very best . And we do trust them in telling us what they have found.And we are going to do what they tell us and be happy, we do have so much to be thankful for, and we do want to keep in the will of God, and never question what comes our way. Mary and Dad.

My beauty and lustre will outshine the rest And for Someone like You, Master, gold would be best!” The Master passed on with no word at all; He looked at the silver urn, narrow and tall. “I’ll serve you, dear Master; I’ll pour out your wine, And I’ll be at your table whenever you dine. My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true, And silver will always compliment you.” Unheeding, the Master passed on to the brass.
It was wide mouthed and shallow, and polished like glass.
“Here! Here!” cried the vessel, “I know I will do. Place me on your table for all men to view.” “Look at me,” called the goblet of crystal so clear. “My transparency shows my contents so clear.
Though fragile am I, I will serve you with pride, And I’m sure I’ll be happy in your house to abide.” The Master came next to a vessel of wood. Polished and carved, it solidly stood. “You may use me, dear Master,” the wooden bowl said, “But I’d rather you used me for fruit – please, no bread!” Then the Master looked down and saw a vessel of clay

Empty and broken it helplessly lay. No hope had that vessel that the Master might choose To mend and cleanse – make it all His to use.

FRIDAYS ENTRY TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED TWENTY FOUR

Good Morning.

How are you feeling this Friday morning ? I hope to hear you say fine, and I think that you are. We all are as usual looking, for the rest and relaxing in the days that we will be home. Even though Mary and I were not at home yesterday, I received a lot of comments which we do appreciate, So many appreciated the poem about the old people. A lot of my comments come to me in an email and you do not see them, I am sorry, I wish that you could. Any way I do want to thank all our world wide friends who have been so kind and helpful to us through the years. Dad.

I don't have to tell you that we are back home from Nashville safe and sound, you wouldn't be reading this if I was still in Nashville. We arrived at home at 8 P.M. and there was one happy Prince waiting for us. All went well at Vanderbilt. We do appreciate those doctors down there and trust them.
.

Friday, Nov. 12:00, 2 p.m.

Dear Friends, Some of you have been asking about my appointment at Vanderbilt. Thank you for your care.

Jim and Beverly took us (Nov. 11th) and we appreciated that very much.We had a good trip to Vanderbilt. The Dr. is a Specialist in Parkinson's Disease. He and two other Doctors gave me a very intensive Neurological Exam. The illness is progressing, but they made some changes in my medications and added two more. The Dr. said, "Remember that PD is a progressive disease. There is no slowing down of that progression. but we can treat the symptoms" somewhat. The Dr. mentioned that surgery (Deep Brain Stimulation) is an option. I'm not keen on that but it is an option somewhere down the line.

We are having so much nice fall weather here in East Tennessee and I am enjoying it to the fullest. It has given me some time to do a little more work on my Wildlife Habitat, and I think that the birds are enjoying it. There is a little extra work in having a Habitat, but it is worth it, Why don't you try one for yourself ?
