DADS FRIDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED NINETY FIVE

Life is so short-do not waste it DAD

Good Morning.

Today is the second day of our convention, the time is passing so fast, and we are listing to some wonderful things, I hope that these thing are being written on my heart, most people take notes, I just cant do that I would just rather listen intently on what is being spoken and let it sink down into my heart.

I would like to know how all my friends are doing, even though I am enjoying this I am still missing you. I can picture what is going on this morning over at Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. I can picture each step that are being taken to get our friends under those oxygen hoods, Monday will be here soon, and you will find me there. I am begriming to feel MT need for some Oxygen. Please tell every one there Hi, and I do miss them. Dad

In  case you didn't have time to view Steve's mushroom photos I've sent you the link. Joan.
http://shootingmyuniverse.blogspot.com/2011/09/forest-floor.html

A few of my friends did not think that I was able for the four days of our convention  since I have been having a little foot trouble, but I am showing them that I am able, as you know that I have my golf cart to get from the meeting shed to the dining room and bathrooms, and I even have a cot where  I can rest if that need comes, I am spending  most of my time between the meeting visiting my old friends, many of them over 50 years ago What a pleasure.  Sweet memories of the past.Dad

I have my one gem and I think that Mary is going to leave one also, mine is.

" Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness "

I am going to stop and visit the coffee pot and get a little more rest before we leave for  another day at the convention'

You all know your way around this journal as well as I do,the panel and all else that I have for you, just make yourself at home, act like you own the place. I do hope to have a little for you in the morning. Sending my love & best wishes to you.

DADS THURSDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED NINETY FOUR.

Tine is so precious-don't waste it

Good Morning

To day is the first day of our convention and we are excited. We are expecting some good meetings and I know that we will not leave this place with out getting help, and I for one need it.  All of the toils and cares of life bear down on our soul and we do  need to feel like David when he said " Create in me a clean heart'  and Renew in me a right spirit'  That is in the 51st psalm.

I don't have time for a full old fashioned journal this morning  but I want to say good morning to every one at Hyperbaric  oxygen   therapy. And that includes everyone the one that picks me up at the parking lot and takes me to the room for those smiling faces to get me ready to go into, and the ones that are sitting in there with you. I sure wish that I was with you this morning,,and I do not want to forget that sweet smiling face that sits there at the telephone  keeping things running smoothly, without her every thing would come to a screeching halt

Now I need some one to tell every one above what I have said, and I hope that I am not leaving  any one out. Because I love every one of you. And I do plan on calling you from the parking lot in Monday morning, DAD

This is going to be all for today. you know all about the side panel you will find the three Cams there and a lot more that you will enjoy.

After sitting in three meetings today I will send  you a Gem

Sending my love and best wishes to all of you. I hope to see you again in the morning

Good Morning

We had some very sad news last night, when you read

Vicki has sent me so many gifts , any direction that I look in the house I can say Vicki sent me that. Mary and I are so sorry  and we are hoping for the best for her. Mary is sending her love and old  Dad is also saying Vicki I love you. we would like for her to come and see us sometime. Real soon.

I really don't feel like writing a journal this morning but I am going to try. Our schedule is about the same as always, Mary get me two Hyperbarieoxygen therapy and I spend two hours of my life breathing that wonderful oxygen with a hood over my head and I have  confidence that it is helping me and the ones that are in there with me. I don't see why so much  time is spent on an old 98 year old man. But they are as kind to me as if I were 18. Wonderful kindness that you don't find in this world anymore.Dr. Hall you should be proud of the smiling faces that all of us see every day. DAD

Today

Another thing that I appreciate is that when we are shut in taking our oxygen we are not alone for those two hours, again one of those nice friendly men is sitting right there with, us what a comfort that is to me. He is locked in with us and he does every thing to make us feel safe and comfortable , blankets  and water. You would not get that kind of treatment at your finest hotel, thank him today as he works so hard. and don't forget that sweet girl in the office, things might come to a halt if it was not for her. Well here is why , I have readers all around this globe, and there are different time zones, and I want my readers to be able to read it before the go to work, I do get comments from all around this world every day and Dad wants to thank you. Good Morning,I hope that all of you are feeling happy and able to get to your job in a good humor, that is smiling , I think that the boss will be more pleased with that than a frown.

Well Jim has returned to Kingsport so Mary is back on the job this morning, she does seem happy to be back, I think that she missed all of you because she would ask about you often  , we are glad to have her back be cause we all Love Mary.

It looks like that Dr Hall has changes our schedule a little, usually when we pull onto their free parking lot, in just minuets some one arrives with a wheel chair and take me to prepare me for the two hour in the oxygen chamber that I love. It is doing me so much good that I myself am surprised

But this morning will be a big change, and it was a surprise to us. When they pick us up in the parking lot we are going to visit Heather who is in another department, we met Heather a few years ago, and have always valued her help, and it is going to be interesting to have a visit with her again.

It will be time for that oxygen soon Dr Hall get me back there and ready for it, I do not want to miss this, honestly this is the main reason for me to be here. Dad.

We are so thankful for all the young men and women the Dr mills give us to serve us always with a smile

More later in the day. Dad

We did have a wonderful time this morning, visiting with Heather and others along the way, it did take the starch out of me, after a few hours  of sleep I do feel more like my self and by  morning I will be ready to face any thing that comes up with a smile. DAD

I am not going to say more here this evening , I do hope to see you here  early in the morning, I will have the Sumatra x bold ready, maybe that will entice you to get out of your bed

DADS SATURDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE

Live for others every day, it will bring you a lot more peace than living for yourself. Dad.

    Good Morning.

I hope that all my friends are doing well this favorite morning of the week, we all are looking for a little renewing and relaxing so we will be better able to meet the enemy of our souls on Monday morning, don't worry he will be there waiting on you

I have wanted for a long time to tell you a little of what goes own each morning at the Hyperbaric oxygen therapy from the time we arrive until we are tucked in our car for the  trip home. What I am going to talk about is kindness. I am not going to call any names because I might leave some one out, just the kindness that we receive.

Mary and I try to arrive in their parking lot around 9 A.M. them Mary calls to the office and in seconds there stands a young man with a wheel chair to take me to the waiting room where we are prepared for the treatments , and the lady  who meets us there is so sweet, she seems to know every one by their first name.

Now the kindness does really begin. We are taken to the place where we enter by some of the kindest young men that you could ever meet. They make sure that you are seated and have blankets to keep you warm, then you are prepared for the oxygen, hoods and all that goes with it. And all during the two hour stay one of these young men stay with us,to watch over us and see that all is well. Now do you call that kindness. Dr Hall I do think that you have the best group of workers, that I have seen, they work so closely together with no complaints. DAD

I did not get your permission to write this Dr Hall, please read it today and let me know if is alright , if not I can remove any are all of it,  Dad at white6416r@aol.com I hope to see you Monday morning.

Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

I have been told to always respect my elders. Its just getter harder and harder to find one

    and another good one

They tell us that life begins at 40 but they don't tell us what kind of life

These two above from Over The Hill & on a Roll

    Today

Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 26C. Winds light and variable.

Mostly cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 79F. Winds light and variable.

I am sure that you remember how I work on this Saturday journal. I keep it open until mid afternoon for any thing new that some of you might have to send me. this is the last one until Monday morning, but you can read this one all day Sunday

Please use the side panels for more. So I am not gone just hanging around sipping on that Starbucks  x bold 'mm good.

Sending my love to all the world, and I do think of all of you every Day

Just a short note after our Sunday morning meeting , I feel so much better now, I believe that I can face what ever comes my way. Dad

It is so nice to wake up to a new day and to be in a Happy mood, being thankful for that new clean sheet  that God gladly gives  us all each morning .It is spotless at the moment, but how long will it will it stay clean ?

I want to Thank Joan for this below.

    Pass the Banana

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas. He said the expression 'going bananas' is from the effects of bananas on the brain. Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!
    This is interesting.

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

    PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

    Anemia :
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

    Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

    Constipation:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

    Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey.. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
    Heartburn:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

    Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

    Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

    Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

    Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. InThailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood Enhancer tryptophan.

    Smoking &Tobacco Use:
Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

    Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

    Strokes:
According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

    Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the

protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals.

It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe it's time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,

'A banana a day keeps the doctor away!'

PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth.

    Amazing fruit !!!

DADS SATURDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED EIGHTT

This is our Good Saturday morning that we like.

'''TIME IS SO PRECIOUS- PLEASE DO NOT WASTE IT'"

As we go out into he unknown future, daily seek the presence of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit & we will have a successful day & God will crown the day  with His goodness.

This video shows the memorial that was built in Washington DC in honor of those killed either in the plane or in the pentagon on 9/11/01.  It is subtle and lovely and peaceful.

    http://www.aol.com/video/youve-got-jim-laychak/1147977925001/

This above is a couple of days early, maybe I will show it through Saturdays entry which can be viewed on Sunday. DAD.

Sad memories indeed, but America did not give up in despair or fear, what a great privilege  to be an American.

Joan ask me to give you this, it can also be found in the side panel-" My Memories "

I want to write today a little about my first school days, which was a long time ago, it would have been in 1919. There sure are a lot of changes since that time. I remember very well the little two room school building that I attended. The name of the school was White's School. It was named after my grandfather because he gave the land for the school to be built on. As I mentioned before, the school had two rooms. They were called the little room and the big room. In the little room were the first four grades - first, second, third, and fourth, and one teacher took care all four grades and all the different subjects that were taught. In the big room was the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, and the teacher in this room was the principal of the school. There was a long bench in the front of our desks facing the teacher. When school began in the morning our teacher would call the first grade to come to the front and sit on the bench. Then we would have about an hour of teaching, and then return to our desks, and the next class would be called up. And that continued until all classes were over. In the time that we were not in class we sat at our desks in the same room trying to study for our next class.

  • I am going to be telling you about the school facilities or the lack of them. I know some of these things may sound like "hard times," but I appreciate every hard experience that I had.

Talking more about my old school--One of my comments was did we have a bell to ring at the beginning of each school day. I was about to forget to mention that. Thanks J for reminding me. Yes we did have a bell; there was a belfry on the top of the building. The rope to ring the bell came down into the big room. The teacher would let different ones of us students ring the bell. We were so proud and felt so important when it was our day.

Of course we did not have any place to play inside, so all our play time was outside. I think that baseball and basketball were the most popular games. Since we did not have a cafeteria we ate our lunch on sunny days outside, and at our desk when it was raining. We had to bring our lunch from home because there was none sold in walking distance of the school.

We didn't have central heat, of course, in our rooms. Each room had a large, iron pot-belly stove. One of our teachers came up with a good idea for us. During the cold months she made us a big pot of stew for our lunch on the stove. Each student could bring anything from their home, such as a potato, tomato, corn, or anything that would work in the stew. The teacher brought a piece of beef. She would put the stew on to cook in the morning, and it would be ready for us at lunch time.  We were supposed to bring from home our bowl and a spoon and a piece of corn bread. That was our lunch, and we all had a little part in it. About an hour before lunch time that stew sure began to smell good. We could hardly wait for the lunch hour to come.

Don't you think this was nice? I still love beef stew. There are a few more things I want to mention. We did not have a school bus, so that meant a walk to and from school, which we all enjoyed very much. And then I just wanted to mention that there was not a janitor at school so my brother Ralph and I got the job of sweeping out the school rooms each day after school was out. Then in the winter months we would come to school about an hour early in the morning to start a fire in the two big iron stoves. And I remember so well the first book we had. It was it was a reader titled, Baby Ray and his little dog Penny. I sure would like to have one of those books now. If any of you know where I could get one I sure would be glad to hear from you.

Even though I have mentioned a lot of what could be considered as "hardships," I didn't see them as that, and I still don't. I'm so glad I had the privilege of attending White's School. We loved our teachers very much, and they were good teachers who took an interest in us and wanted us to do well in school. To this day I can still remember their names. There were 8 of them.

My first teacher was Edna Finger. She was an excellent teacher and helped me so much when school was a new experience for me. Another teacher that comes to mind was Sam Capps. I don't remember the year he taught. He was a real friend to me. Some days he would send me and one of my friends, Clyde, to a little store about a mile from the school to get him some Hershey Kisses. He loved chocolate, and when we got back he would always give us each a Hershey Kiss. We thought that was something. It was on our lunch hour that we went. I graduated from White's School in 1927. There were only 6 in the class, and I think that one other man and I are the only ones left.

I won't ever forget my days at White's School.

  • Loved reading about your school years.  I will read it again tomorrow and maybe on Sunday too.  I am smiling big. Joan.

  • Here below is the first school book that I used in school

I don't have a copy of the book but there are several links on the web to the book but this one I liked the best because if you click on the pages on the left column, you can see some of the wonderful drawings and some of the stories. With your memory, you will probably remember each of the stories the read starting in 1917 when the books were first published. I wonder if some of my fiends would remember this book or maybe own one.

    http://www.tagnwag.com/forsale/readers/childsworldprimer.html

I want to add this for today 9/ 10/11. our school only went to the 8th grad and that was as for as I could go, in other words that is my complete education , my parents were poor and we were willing to get work and help out. This will help you understand why I write like I do. DAD

  • This is getting to long, I am going to stop here for now, These long articles take a lot of space, but I was ask for them and I like to please my readers because I Love You.

  • I do hope to see and talk to you on Monday morning. Please go to my side panel for all that I had to leave out, you will find it all there. DAD

I am feeling so much better since this started, you may have to put up with me a little longer as I try to produce smiles these days, the season is over for roses and tomatoes, but the season for smiles is never over, and that includes the entire world, so give me a big one this morning and I will pass it on. • Note: It is only 6:45 P M. eastern time, and I have had a busy but very enjoyable day, I was out of that bed early this morning writing this journal, I am feeling so much better since I have been on the oxygen that I am receiving, and can do so much more, I am a little weary from all the fun that I have had to day. So I am going to lay down for awhile.
