ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & SIXTY NINE

Good Morning.
.
Time is so precious-do not waste it..
.
Wasted days and years shall never come again.
.
Begin the Day with God.
.
How are you feeling on this wednesday morning. or is it to early for you to tell me ?
.
Maybe a cup of this hot tea or coffee will get us started in the right direction. I know that it always takes that to get me going.
.
"If the worst is bound to happen, Spite of all that you can do,Running from it will not save you, See it through!

from Edgar Guest.

"These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago in Nashville. The gardener is my father, Jim . He is 83 years old and says these plants are the best looking ones he has had in many years. He also has cucumbers, peppers and flowers! The garden is in his back yard." (From Michael)

Michael and Pamala my two good friends sent me the pictures above that I appreciate very much. Michael explains in the caption that this is his Dad. He is going to bring him to see us very soon. Maybe he can show me how to grow tomatoes a little better than I am doing now. Even though I have never met Jim I already count him as one of my friends. Thanks to you two for sending these interesting pictures to me. DAD.

We hope that you will have time today to look at the two outdoor Cams above. They give you two different views of the tomato garden, the # 2 cams also gives you a good view of the bird bath. And we have this cam lighted at night. So when it is dark in Dad's tomato garden you will still be able to see the fountain. Try it out tonight and let me know what you think. DAD.

Our Tennessee weather is staying just about the same. It was a little cooler yesterday. This morning it is starting out at 67 and the high will be in the high eightes or maybe a little higher. It feels very good to me. The tomatoes are doing very good view them on Cam # 2 when you have the time.

Here is my thought for today.

I don't know what to say about the eagles, they are still around and they seem to be doing very good to me from what I saw yesterday. We better let someone who knows tell us what is going on. Click on Eagle Web Cam and I will go with you up and see what it looks like this morning.
..
This link here http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/eaglecam/ might help us see a little more.
.
I think that I have already talked too much so here I go. But I will be back in the early morning if my life is spared, I do feel good this morning but I am going to go slow again today, just walk not run. Smile today it won't cost you anything but it will mean more than we will ever know to someone.

ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & SIXTY EIGHT

Good Morning.
.
Time is so precious-do not waste it.
.
Wasted years shall never come again.

.
A Good Poem
..

If you get a thorn, not a rose, Keep a-goin! If it hails or if it snows, Keep a-goin! Taint no use to sit and whine When the fish ain't on your line, Bait your hook and keep on tryin'. Keep a-goin! When the weather kills your crop, Keep a-goin! When you tumble from the top, Keep a-goin! S'pose your out of every dime, gettin' broke ain't any crime, Tell the world you're feelin' fine, Keep a-goin! When it looks like all is up, Keep a-goin!Drain the sweetness from the cup, Keep a-goin! See the wild birds on the wing, hear the bells that sweetly ring! When you feel like sighin'--sing! Keep a-goin!!!
,
By Frank Lebby Stanton
.
Here is my thought for this Tuesday.
.
" The best and most beautiful things of this world can't be seen or touched. They must be felt by the heart."
.
Here's another good poem.
.
SEE IT THROUGH

.
by Edgar Guest
.
When you're up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.

When it's vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
See it through!

Black may be the clouds about you
And your future may seem grim,
But don't let your nerve desert you;
Keep yourself in fighting trim.

If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
See it through!

Even hope may seem but futile,

When with troubles you're beset,
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.

You may fail, but fall still fighting;
Don't give up, whate'er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
See it through!
..

You do not need a hundred acre farm to have a garden, here is proof. My neice Karen sent me this picture above. This picture is not all that she and her husband Pat have planted. I think that this is so nice. I am very proud of my neice and all that she does. She above other things writes a blog that I think is interesting, Be sure and look at BrushStrokes when you have the time. Thanks Karen for the picture. DAD.

.

We are still having hot and wet weather here in The Tennessee Valley. This morning the tempeature is starting out at 70 and will possible go to around 85 for the day. Yesterday we had lots of rain, 1.23 inches , and more thunderstorms are predicted for this afternoon.

I do need to stop and get busy, but before I go let's have a cup of hot tea or if you are like me, hot coffee. I feel like it takes at least one cup to get my eyes open. I don't have much to say this morning. But I hope that you will remember my side panel and use it. The eagles and a lot of other things are there.

. I plan on being back here in the morning if I am able to get here. Smile today and try to be happy. Look at the two poems above, they might help you. Sending Love to all of you in every part of this world.

ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & SIXTY-SEVEN

GOOD MORNING TO MY FRIENDS ALL OVER THE WORLD,
.
Time is so precious-do not waste it.
.
Wasted years shall never come again.
.
This is Monday morning and I do need my coffee in a hurry. It will be ready soon and I am ready for it. Sit down and we will talk while we wait.
.
Here is a picture of Kara and Zachary's new puppy. His name is Oreo. I guess he is my "Great Grand-Dog." Isn't he adorable?

Ph0to taken by Jim, 6/21/ 2009

...

We did have a very enjoyable day yesterday, after our Sunday morning meeting we drove up to Kingsport to see some others of our family. We did not stay very long, We were in a meeting up there at 4 p.m. that we enjoyed very much. I was very tired when we arrived home and soon I was ready for my bed.

.

Here is one of the famous Elephant Stew Recipes that Mary wants to share with you.We do not know who created it but we want to give proper credit to whoever did.

CREAM OF ELEPHANT STEW

1 medium-sized elephant

2 tons onions, chopped

6 barrels flour, sifted

1/2 pickup truck load salt

Wash elephant and pat dry. Rub with salt and let stand. Cut elephant into bite-size pieces. This will take about 2 months. Set aside. Rest. Saute onions, stir in elephant, and remaining salt. Add ingredients to 1 acre size vat of water. Bring to a boil, then lower temperature and simmer 2 weeks or until tender. Thicken with the sifted flour and remove from heat. Serve immediately as elephant tends to get tough and rubbery when cold. Serves 1365.

...

Now, on to more serious topics. How are you all today? I am feeling better since I have had a cup of that coffee, I thing that I will make it today if everone will be good to me, a few smiles would help a lot. And remember it don't cost you anything to give one, and you may never know how much good those smiles have helped someone. DAD.

Tomato Berries: Heart-Shaped Tomatoes Are Here!
.
By Michelle Fabio

.
I would bet that many of us tomato lovers have looked at certain cherry tomatoes and thought they resembled hearts.
Maybe at the time we thought it was just our pure adoration of tomatoes talking, but now when you look at a mini-tomato, you just may be seeing the symbol of love in our favorite fruit.
The award-winning “Tomato Berries” by Tokita Seed Company are, indeed, heart-shaped and are being featured in restaurants throughout Japan.
And they may soon be found in a market or eating establishment as the little love tomatoes made a great impression at an international fruit fair in Berlin, Germany earlier this year; they were named the world’s third most revolutionary product.
Tokita Seed’s president, Iwao Tokita, came up with the new tomato about four years ago, but he was unhappy with the shape. He considered it a complete failure and even “rotten.”
But then his daughter saw them and convinced him that they were actually quite cute, and the inventor took his new tomato on the road—and was greeted with nothing but love in Germany.
Are you hearting the new Tomato Berries?

,

I must stop and get busy. We have had rain almost everyday, and some of the thunder storms have been fierce, lots of water and wind, So there is lots of cleaning up to do, and I can already hear those birds. Believe me or not those birds know my cart and when they see me comimg their way they begin to come out of the nearby trees, I hope that I can make it back here again in the morning. Smile untill you see me again.

Tomatoes: Good For Your Heart!

.

By Vanessa Richins

.
One complaint from people about why they don’t eat healthier is that it’s cheaper to eat convenience and fast foods.
Depending on your area, this may be true on the surface.
However, over a lifetime, choosing fresh foods and their derivatives will likely be much cheaper.
One example comes from the recent debut of a new dietary supplement. These pills contain a concentrated dose of the superstar lycopene. As we’ve chronicled here before, lycopene has many health benefits, including fighting cancer, wrinkles,

Why keep aspirin by your bedside?
.
About Heart AttacksThere are other symptoms of an heart attack besidesthe pain on the left arm.One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.Note: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack. The majority of people (about 60%) who had an heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up.
.
However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep. If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
.
Afterwards - phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by - say "heart attack!" - say that you have taken 2 aspirins. - take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and.... ~ do NOT lie down ~

Morning, Dad. That was very helpful news about heart attacks. And I would like to add one other thing that I learned- women are having more heart attacks and for women the main symptom often feels like indigestion. It's sometimes hard to know when to call an ambulance but better safe than sorry.. Becky. Thanks Becky. Dad.

We expect some 95 degree weather today. It is 69 here at the tomato garden at 4 a.m. and mostly sunny. We had another hard thunder storm yesterday afternoon. The rain really came down but we did not have very much wind. ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & SIXTY THREE

Good Morning..
.
Time is so precious-do not waste it..
.
Wasted years shall never come again.
..

This morning we saw an empty nest at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. All three of the young eaglets were exploring the area around the nest, gaining valuable skills they'll need as they eventually disperse and leave the nest area. The oldest of the juvenile eagles (male -band HK) has since returned to perch on a branch adjacent to the nest (hoping for a fish from the adults perhaps?)We expect to see the young birds return to the nest for feeding over the next few weeks and they may remain in the vicinity for up to 10 weeks.

..
We will continue to monitor the camera and post updates. This year marks another extraordinary success for this pair - again successfully fledging three young eagles. As we saw last year - with several eggs lost and one young bird transferred to the Wildlife Center of Virginia for care of an avian pox infection - bald eagles face continuing challenges as we look to continue the recovery of this impressive bird.
.
For those who haven't had enough of the amazing raptors of the Commonwealth - you can view Falcon Cam - which highlights nesting pergrine falcons atop Riverfront Plaza in Richmond at
.
http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/falconcam2008/.
.
These birds are incubating four eggs and we expect to see them hatch by late June/early July.
