ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TWENTY-TWO

Good Morning my dear friends,

"Time is so precious-do not waste it.''
.
Many years of life are wasted living for thyself alone."
.
"Begin the Day with God."

.
..
I have enjoyed sitting on this little patio down at the garden many times lately and just hearing and seeing nothing but nature. It does something to me that nothing else does. It has a calming effect on me. Problems of the day seem to fade away and the sight of all the birds being so care free, it makes me think of what Jesus said about the Sparrow.
.
"Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?" Luke 12:6.

.

Overheard In An Orchard
..
Said the Robin to the Sparrow
"I would really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.
..
"Said the Sparrow to the Robin
"Friend I think that it must be
That they have no Heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me."
By-Elizabeth Chaney - 1859
.
Sara we are glad that you all are home safe and sound. We enjoyed your vacation with you, what you told us each day was so interesting. Now it's time for me to look at Oreo and Misty, I know how to get there Sara's Dog Training if any of you want to go hop on and we will look in on them. I am sure that those two Shelties are glad to be home. DAD.
.
The video below is one of my favorites. I wish that you could stop in some day and sit with me, we might enjoy a cup of tea or coffee together as we watch and listen. I made this little video a few days ago .You will need to play it to understand why I like it.! Dad .

You are not worrying about this being Monday are you ? If you are please stop right now. You know so well that very few of the things that we worry about ever come to pass. So why don't we just start the day with a big smile, I will help you all I can, sit down and I will get you a cup of fresh ground and brewed Starbucks coffee ( I am using their Sumatra brand X bold this week.) or if you like your tea I also have it ready. Now that should help us to get going.
.

A NOTE ABOUT THE VIDEO BELOW
.
WE MADE THIS VIDEO LAST YEAR, '08
YOU WILL HEAR ME MAKING MENTION OF DUNKIN' DOUGHNUTS COFFEE, BUT THAT WAS BEFORE I CHANGED OVER TO STARBUCKS!

This Video above is one year old. We used it last year in our blog. I hope that you enjoy it this year again.
.
I wish that you would notice in the video what one year has done to me. Listen to my voice, it was a lot bettter then and you can just tell by the way I speak and move around that I was happy and feeling good. Time brings changes. I want to accept them without complaint. God knows best. DAD.
.
Our weather has been very nice for the last few days and it looks good for today according to AOL. Here is what they say-
.
Today --- 8/24/09
'
Sunny to partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 83F. Winds NE at 5 to 10
.
.
This is enough for this Monday morning. I must stop and get ready to earn my bread for today. I have a lot planned and I am going to do all that I can. I hope to be able to come back in the morning. Dad is sending Love and Good Wishes to all of you all around this world.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TWENTY ONE.

It is 4:55 A.M. on Sunday morning, 8/23/09. Dad just wants to say Good morning and to wish you a hapy day. I do hope to see you early in the morning. With coffee and a smile. DAD.

Good Morning.

"Begin the Day with God."
.
Here below is a little about our trip yesterday up to Jim's cabin. We enjoyed our short time there very much.
..
In the picture above you see the dinner table all set and twelve hungry people ready to sit down. THANKS to Jim and Beverly. Dad.

And about these two pictures above, the first one is a view of the lake from the back deck of the cabin, In the distance you can see their boat coming in.
.
And I am ashamed of the next picture a video. I made it while they were out on the lake. My voice is terrible, I sound like I need a doctor. But I assure you that I was just real tired after some early morning work and the drive up to the cabin. I was happy and smiling then and I still am this Saturday morning. DAD
.
'
Enough about ourselves for this morning. We need to check on Oreo and Misty. I am wondering when they will be coming home. If you would like to see them this morning I can tell you how to get there, Click on this Sara's Dog Training DAD.
.
I saw this in an office, Ray, and thought of you."The only two things money can't buy are true love and home grown tomatoes."Have a great day. Luv U both,Joan.

.
Hi Joan I like that, but I know that we both would agree that there is another thing more important than tomatoes and true love. And
money cannot buy that. Mary and I love you Joan. Dad.

.
It took this link above to wake me up and to realize that I have not even mentioned tea or coffee. Shame on me. Come on in it has been ready for a long time. Dad.
.
Well it is time for me to go and let you rest a little while. I will see you early Monday morning as we do not write a blog on Sunday mornings as we have other plans for our Sunday mornings. I hope that we can make this a profitable week end, we know how so lets do it. Smile first and be kind.

Before I go I want to leave you with this thought.

This is going to be all for this Friday, I am wishing that you have a good day and I just know that you will. We all have a great deal to do with how the day goes, I think you know what I mean, like smiles and kindness to others. And even opening and holding the door for some old man or woman. I know that things like that have helped me. DAD.

The Cabin

"Things have been going OK around our home these past days. We’re excited about going to “the cabin” on Douglas Lake next week. It will be a good vacation for us. Most of our family will be joining us for at least part of the time while we are there. Our stay at “the cabin” is a gift from our friends, Allen and Claudia, who live in Florida. They are so kind to offer us the use of their cabin.
We met them when Allen and I were both going to NC State College in 1961. Beverly and I lived in Married Student Housing in Apt. E22, and Allen and Claudia live just under us. We have kept in contact through the years. If you are ever interested in renting their cabin, check it out here:"

Reader Question: Tomato Plants Dying
Tags:

By Vanessa Richins
Nicole writes:

” I NEED HELP!! I went out to my garden this morning everything was fine. Came home from work and my tomato plants took a turn for the worst. Almost every leaf on the plant turned yellow/brown with dark black spots. I had to cut them all off according to the internet. Some of the tomatoes had dark brown spots on them. There was also some mushrooms growing beneath the plant.
Connecticut has been having alot of rain and humidity this week. Also there is a tomato fungus in six of our counties. Does anyone know what type of fungus this is and what I can do to treat my plants? I had 9 plants that were producing beatiful tomatoes…I was so excited. I don’t think they are going to survive. : ( “
.

Hi Nicole. I am so sorry to hear that all of your tomatoes are having problems.
First, the fungus you are referring to is late blight (Phytophthora infestans). It’s really hit hard in the Northeast this year. Part of the problem is the weather conditions you described - rainy.

HEART ATTACK? TAKE ACTION!
.
Don't try to "tough out" what might be a heart attack by telling yourself that the symptoms will pass. Call 911 immediately! Every minute matters. New medications and treatments can sometimes stop heart attacks in their tracks, but you must receive them shortly after symptoms occur. Some heart attacks are sudden and intense but most start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Some of the most common signs include chest discomfort (pressure, squeezing, pain); pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach; shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, or light headedness.
.
I don't think Jim would care if I used this, as it is so important. He used it in his blog a few days ago. Tennessee Granddaddy DAD

I was sitting on the patio, and decided to make a little video. As soon as we finish placing our bird feeders we will be making more video's. I am hoping to get some close ups of our local birds. And any other wildlife that wanders into our camera's eye.

Our two Cams will be on 24 hours each day. The # 2 cam will be lighted.

BELOW IS A BEAUTIFUL POEM THAT I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY. I WELL REMEMBER THIS POEM WHEN I WAS A LITTLE SCHOOL BOY ( Can you imagine this old grey headed man ever being a school boy ? )

I shot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth, I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew, my sight could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air, it fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, who has sight so keen and strong that it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak, I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of my friend.

-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Just minuets after I made this short video above the rain began to come down very hard. We had a real good summer afternoon shower.

Here is our AOL weather report for today.

Today-- 8/19/09
Scattered thunderstorms. Humid. High 83F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%

Here below is my thought for today.

" True greatness is made manifest in our willingness to serve,"

and--

" Ask yourself often how can I do better today."

This is going to be all for today. Please remember my side panel for what I do not have here. Thanks for all of you that let me know that you did take time to look at this blog.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & SEVENTEEN

Good Morning.

"Time is so precious-do not waste it.''

."Begin the Day with God."

" Get in touch with God by Knee Mail."

R-S-A-C... Means- Remember someone always cares.

I received this email from my friend Eric. He lives in

Australia. The letter explains itself . See what Eric thinks about Tennessee and the Smokies. Dad.
.
"Hi Dad. I saw shots of Knoxville and the Smoky Mountains in an hour-long travelogue on Australia's ABC-TV last night.

You certainly live in a picturesque part of the world. The autumn (fall) tree colourings were magnificent.

The film was an hour-long British documentary hosted by Stephen Fry, who travelled through America's Deep South in a London taxi.

Best wishes, Eric "

Here below is my thought for today.

" It is in life my joy to find. At every turning of the road. The strong arm of a comrade kind. To help me onward with my load.

" And since I have no gold to give. And love alone must make amends. My only prayer is while I live---God make me worthy of my friends."

This poem by Frank D Sherman.

R-S-A-C... Means- Remember someone always cares.

I hope that all is well with you this Monday morning . Don't you worry even one little bit. This day is going to be just as good as any other day of the week. If you need coffee or tea to get you started I will furnish that and all I will charge you for it is a great big SMILE now don't you think that is a bargain. Sit down here beside me and start talking, I'll have someone pour us a cup.

The photo above is of my cousin Dorothy and I, taken at her 90th Birthday celebration.

The picture below is a picture of me with all three of my cousins, Dorothy, Margaret and Edna.

Mary and I had the privilege of being at my cousin Dorothy's 90th Birthday celebration on Saturday afternoon 8/15/09. We had a very pleasant time talking over past memories. and looking over old pictures.

There were many pictures taken, I will try to show a few more later. DAD

I have kept in close touch with these three from our childhood.. First cousins are becoming scarce with me I don't have many more left.

We made it to our vacation spot, and got the dogs in the water. Oreo went in all on his own. He seems to like it. Misty went in for treats. I hope they get to swim for real as they get more comfortable in ...

It looks like Oreo and Misty are on vacation. I am so glad they got to go and that they took Jeff and Sara with them.

I am sure that it would be alright for you to look at their blog. Sara's Blog today. DAD.

Here is my thought for this Monday. 8/17/09.

" The reason that there are so many churches is it is easier to build a temple than to be one."

and this-

" What ? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you which you have of God, and ye are not your own ? "

This Bible verse right above was written to the Corinthian church. 1st Corinthians chapter 6 and verse 19.

We are still having very nice weather, Here is what AOL predicts for this day.

Today.. Monday 8/17/09

'
A mix of clouds and sun with a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Humid. High around 85F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

With weather like this I should be able to finish my job of removing those tomato vines.

I hope that you will look in my side panel for the links to my Cams #1 and 2. They have been working good for the last month . Dad

I sure do need to end this, you don't need all this stuff on your Monday morning. But I will do my best to see you at 4 a.m. in the morning with a smile and I might have a cup of Starbucks.
