Entry # SIXTEEN HUNDRED & TWO.

Dad, here’s the woodpecker picture. It was in our backyard pecking on one of those old dead trees. Remember, you told me not to cut them down, but leave them for the woodpeckers.Woodpecker
Here’s the same picture, but cropped so you can see the woodpecker better.

I took these pictures with a 35mm camera and scanned them a few years ago.

This fellow or one of his friends have been back since this picture was taken. It seems they will visit us one or twice a year. Thanks Jim, I appreciate the pictures, DAD.

The pictures with the captions will explain the woodpecker picture above. This picture was taken by Jim in his back yard. There are a lot of them all around here, they are an interesting bird to watch. I want to thank Jim for letting me use them.

Good morning Dad, I checked on the eagle site last night and read what was happening. I am glad they went back to the old nest, that other one may still have some of the pox germs and I have been worried about that.
Great picture of the woodpecker. We have a couple around here different from yours. Then another pair that is smaller also. I haven't seen the smaller ones that hang out here this summer. They are calling for snow this afternoon. Bad rainy, snowy day for Ken and me to have to go to Birmingham to my doc. Have a cozy day out of the cold and rain. Helen

We had those wood peckers at the campground I stayed at this past summer. They did love the dead trees that were around. I miss them and my little place in the woods. Will look forward to the coming camping season for sure. Here in our back yard we do get an occassional one, but not so often. Here's a *SMILE* for you. I'm late getting it out to you today. The picture of the woodpecker is just awesome. Thank you for sharing it with us. At the old house we used to live at, we had an old dead tree next door that draped over the fence and peices were always falling off into the yard, but I didnt mind. We got a lot of woodpecker families out of that old tree. :) Love, Kelly
