THURSDAYS ENTRY # TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE

" Time is so precious- do not waste it"
.
Good Morning.
.
How are you this Thursday morning ? I hope that you are up and ready to go to work. We are having a little warmer weather today, 27 degrees at 3 A.M. this morning. And I am glad I am ready to go outside and do a little real work. We did miss our Wednesday night Bible study last night because of slick roads, so I may be a little hard to get along with today, just want to warn you, Dad.

The House By the Side of the Road

Let me live in a house by the side of the road,
Where the race of men go by -
The men who are good and the men who are bad,
As good and as bad as I.
I would not sit in the scorner's seat,
Or hurl the cynic's ban;
Let me live in a house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

I see from my house by the side of the road,
By the side of the highway of life,
The men who press with the ardor of hope,
The men who are faint with the strife.
But I turn not away from their smiles nor their tears -
Both parts of an infinite plan;
Let me live in my house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

I know there are brook-gladdened meadows ahead
And mountains of wearisome height;
And the road passes on through the long afternoon
And stretches away to the night.
But still I rejoice when the travelers rejoice,
And weep with the strangers that moan,
Nor live in my house by the side of the road
Like a man who dwells alone.

Let me live in my house by the side of the road
Where the race of men go by -
They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong,
Wise, foolish - so am I.
Then why should I sit in the scorner's seat
Or hurl the cynic's ban?
Let me live in my house by the side of the road
And be a friend to man.

Good Morning DAD...

I did hear and I did smell and now here I am, just a little late. My legs ache from all the walking we did in NYC yesterday and I did sleep in a bit this morning. I just know after a cup of your Sumatra and a visit with you I will be ready to face the day. You always remind us not to waste the day and I will try not to.

Foss' poem was a joy to read. I could hear you reading it to us and felt as if you were the man with the house by the side of the road who is a friend to all men. I hope you bless us with other poems of Foss.

You will feel good breathing in the cool fresh air as you check on your natural habitat. It will aliven all your senses. Just be sure to wear a scraf and hat and don't stay out too long. Then, come in for a cup of Sumatra and a good long afternoon read with Prince Charming nearby.
Enjoy this beautiful day from your house by the side of the road. ...Sara's Mom

I love that coffee, I can almost smell it. You're up awfully early this morning, makes me feel lazy for sleeping til 8, but I do have to work all night. Don't work to hard today.

It's been a great day here caring for my little grandson. It's still cold but no new snow for us anyway. It's hard to believe tomorrow is Friday already! Hope your Thursday was a great one too.

Dear Dad, Ms. Mary, and sweet Prince Charming:

Sounds like another good evening to stay in and cuddle with Prince ;) and even though I know you are sorry you missed your study, I'm glad you stayed in and safe. Those icy roads can be a challenge.

Your nephew's blog raises some very disturbing questions, doesn't it?

Love the poem and also your friend Steve's recent photos -- gorgeous wintry scenes.

Love to you all, and special PURRS to the Prince from Jamaka and fams <3
