ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TWENTY NINE

I hope that the thought for the day above is better than the one yesterday. Being close to the fountain you could not hear it for the rushing of the water. These thoughts are important to me. I like to start each new day with at least one good thing to think about. Dad.

Good Morning.

." Time is so precious-do not waste it.''.
.
." A smile is like a little wedge. That often keeps us from the edge. Of getting sad, or feeling blue..... I love to see a smile, don't you ?"

"Begin the Day with God."

I hope that you are feeling good on this Tuesday morning. September the 1st I am feeling good but I know what would help me to feel a lot better. It would be a cup 0f that coffee right now, and I know that you feel the same, so let's sit down and have a cup together.
.

Tell me some of your plans for today, and that you are going to face this day with a lot of hope and confidence, and I hope a smile. Sometime smiles are a little hard to find this early in the morning 4;16 a.m.

.

Here below is our weather for today from AOL.

Today..9/01/09

.
Partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 79F. Winds light and variable

.

I am wondering if Misty, Oreo and Sara are awake at this hour in the morning. I would like to know how they are doing, but I am not going to disturb their rest right now. In a little while I am going to Sara's Dog Training ..That will take me right to Saras blog where I can see a lot of very interesting things that Sara is doing. Sara how do you do all that you do? Dad.

Let’s get this cleared up right now: the late blight is not the fault of the tomatoes, heirloom or hybrid.
Nor is it the fault of the home gardeners who are trying to distance themselves, even just a little, from the corporate food grid.
It’s not the fault of potatoes, or the recession, or Michelle Obama.
And it’s only kind of the fault of the big box plant brokers who sold the infected plants.
No, the bulk of the blame for the epidemic of late blight this growing season belongs squarely where the blame for epidemics nearly always belongs: Mama Nature. We had a cool, wet spring and early summer, and the blight just loved it. Hey, it happens.
It’s all part of a little process

I was out running errands yesterday and stopped by someone’s house to pick up things from Freecycle.
As I went back to my car, I noticed that there was a small nursery across the street.
I told myself I didn’t have any money to spend, but the thought of walking among plants won out and I strolled over to browse.
I had been thinking that I wanted to plant something in my new Earthbox, so after visiting the annuals, perennials and herbs, I finally discovered where the vegetables were hiding. Unfortunately, it’s been pretty hot here in Utah and it showed. Many of the plants were in sad shape, wilting and yellow.
I must admit I have a soft heart for plants in trouble.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TWENTY SEVEN

This is old Dad saying Good Morning to you on this Sunday morning 8/30/09. at 4:15 a.m.. No blog today but I hope to see you Monday morning. DAD.

Good Morning.

This down below was very interesting to me. DAD

.
.
THE PROGRAM:

On Friday, September 11th, 2009 , an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds

Action Plan:
So, here's what we need you to do.

(1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America !

.
We don't want to forget our buddies over the weekend, Sara, Misty and Oreo. Keep this link handy and look at it when you need something to make you smile.
..
Sara's Dog Training will take you to Sara's blog. DAD

.The link above explains about the late tomato blight.

This little video above explains it's self. I am going to try to bring you my thought for the day in this manner for a while, all the time if you like it. To me the thought for the day is important, we need so much to begin the day thinking right thoughts. DAD.

.

We have been having a little rain almost every day, we need to see what AOL says for today.

.Today... 8/29/09.
Sun and clouds mixed with a slight chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon. High 81F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20%.

.

My Starbucks is ready and waiting on you. And I tell you that it is strong and good, but I have half and half to weaken it a little if that is what you like. So stop in, you have lots of time as this is Saturday morning. I forgot to say that there is plenty of TEA ready.

I was wondering if we might have our coffee on a video some morning. That might be interesting.DAD.

.

This is going to be all for this Saturday morning. I hope that you have a good weekend. Mary and I plan to be in our Sunday morning meeting, we can't afford to miss that, we are so needy. Smile and be kind untill I see you again early Monday morning.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TWENTY-SIX

Good Morning,
.
Well this is August 28 2009 the day that I promised to show you my very first journal. These six years have passed so quickly. The morning that I begin this, I did not know if I would be able to continue, I am glad that I have, and it has been with the help of so many of you my faithful readers.
.
This is interesting to me. I received one comment that day and the same reader that commented on Entry # one is still reading my blog and sending me comments every few days. Thanks Karen for sticking with me.

MY FIRST ENTRY

AUGUST 28, 2003
Good Morning:
Today is my first entry on my Journal. I feel like I know many of you. I have met you in Dads Tomato Garden. I have two web pages and working on another one. It will be ready soon. It is about Roses and Song Birds. I will have links from Dad's Tomato Garden to all my other sites.
Its a beautiful day here in East Tenn. At 7:50 the temperature is 73.4 High expected is 90.
I feel like this Journal will be a help to me in the things I am trying to do. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have to make this a better Journal
.
.
BYE BYE DAD.
One comment.
.
When I started this Journal it was for the purpose of helping others produce a good home grown tomato in your own back yard, And that is still my purpose. There are not many thrills that come up to biting into that first tomato sandwich. I would like to hear from some of you readers that have stayed with me through these past six years.

I began writing web pages about six months before I began my blog. The reason that I wanted the blog was because I soon saw that I could keep in closer touch with you and help you more if I had daily contact with you, It has worked out well. I still write six entries each week.
.
I still have the two web pages that I mentioned above and still try to keep them up to date. These links below will take you to them.
.

.
I am sure that you have noticed the great improvements in all of our blogs. They are all so much better. When AOL quit the blogs I did not have any idea what would happen. But I must say that I am happy with Google. I do appreciate all that AOL did for us for so long. And I know that we need them both. DAD

.
Today.. 8/28/09.
Variable clouds with showers and scattered thunderstorms. High around 75F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

.
I think that it is just about time for me too get out of your way. I have not done a very good job telling you about my first blog. Maybe if you go to my side panel you might find out a little more.
.
If all goes well I do want to come back in the morning. Don't forget those two things that we all need to do to make this a good day. Do you really remember I would like to hear from you if you do. Dad

" The clock of life is wound but once, And no man has the power. To tell just when the hands will stop--- At late or early hour. Now is the only time you own: Live, love, work with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow,for--- The clock may then be still."

By George H.Candler.

."Time is so precious-do not waste it.''

".Many years of life are wasted living for thyself alone

Begin the Day with God."
.

Do make time to look in on them today. As usual you will find them right here. Sara's Dog Training I know that you will be glad that you went.

Here below is a nice hot breakfast that I would like to recommend to you, I have tried it and it is good and good for you. DAD

Mary used the receip above on Sunday night and Dad had a nice breakfast on Monday morning. It is so easy too do and it is so good on cool mornings. A quick breakfast that is good and good for your health.

Since school has started I was thinking that this would be a quick breakfast and I think that the most of you would like it. If you don't have a crock pot now is the time to invest in one. I have used mine for many years. Dad
