ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED AND NINE

GOOD MORNING,

Time is so precious-do not waste it

The sun never sets on Dad's Tomato Garden Journal

( Note: My # 1 cam is working, # 2 will be later.Dad )

I am thankful that God has allowed me to see the light of another day. I am very grateful, and I do hope that I can live in a way that shows a spirit of gratitude to the One above.

We are looking forward to having two dear friends here for supper this afternoon, and they are going to spend the night with us and be in our wednesday nighe bible study. too.

We are having a warm morning once again, at 3 A.M. the tempeature is 48, but it again mentions showers. We have everything ready and we are waiting on a little dry weather. We also hope to have the garden cam done today, if we do we will give you a look at it this afternoon. Dad.

The video above is one that we made last tomato season, 2008, it is not very good, too long and the old man that made it must have been feeling awful bad from his looks, but since green tomatoes are begining to appear, we thought that we would show it anyway. I will make a better one later on in the spring. I love fried green tomators. Dad.

It's Starbucks Coffee time here at Dad's house, and it is all ready and waiting on you, don't forget to stop in and have a little chat wiith me, I look forward to that. I also have plenty off all kinds of TEA.

.

I want us to do is go to the Eagle Web Cam and let it take us right up to the nest and see how they are doing this morning, It has been very interesting the last few days to just watch them grow. Please don't miss them and also show them to your children. I did not get to see them very much yesterday, I was very busy all day. I do hope to find them well when the sun comes up. .

.There are lots of things for you to see over in my side panel, you can see for one thing Tennessee Granddaddy , and he will always make you think and smile. ( I think that he is comming down to help me set those tomato plants out.) and the eagles and a lot more interesting things are there. DAD.

.

This book "Call Me Dad." makes a nice gift for any Dad, new or old. I am a 95+ great grand Pa and I ordered one of the books and I am enjoying it, it brings back so many sweet memories of the time when Jim and Mary were babies. To read more about the book and how to order one go over to the side panel on the right you will see the link.

I am very proud of my visitors list, that is over on the right side panel, Thanks to all of you all around this world who have taken the time to visit me, and THANKS for the many comments that you have sent me.If I can ever be of any help to any of you be sure and call on me. I don't know much but I can talk about TOMATOES. Plese look at this visitors list when you have the time. There are two lists one for countries and one for cities. DAD

.

Here below is another interesting CAM.

.

Here below is my thought for this day.4/15/09.

" Blessed are the merciful ; for they shall obtain mercy."

Jesus said that, it's in Matthew chapter 5 verse 7, we can safely beleive all that Jesus lived and taught.

.I am going to bring this to a close, I will be back if all goes well. Let's try to make this a good day, maybe I have been trying to go a little too fast. I am going to try to slown down a little and be more careful in every step I take and every word that I speak, and act like the old man that I am. All for now.

BYE BYE DAD.

Dad says, "These look like some good ones."
( In the two pictures above it looks like that I am asleep, I am not really, it was the bright sun that was shining in my eyes, Dad, )
.
Good Morning..

Please don't miss them and also show them to your children. I did not get to see them any time yesterday, I was very busy all day. I do hope to find them well when the sun comes up.

To read more about the book and how to order one go over to the side panel on the right you will see the link.
.
The weather is still warm starting the morning off with another 56, the same as yesterday morning, I am not sure about the possibility of rain, but I do hope that it slows just a little for a few days.
.
It will be a few days before I get those plants above in the ground, After I get them I usually hold them for a few days before I put them in the ground, I keep them watered and in partial sun, I may be wrong about this, but I feel that it helps them to get used to the outside conditions. I will keep you posted. And it looks like that you might be able to see us do this job on my Garden Cam. We have the cable in place and only like the plugs on each end. Tennessee Granddaddy is planning to come down and help me, won't it be fun to see him work, Dad.
.
I am feeling a little better this morning, I was very busy yesterday and I think that just seeing a little accomplished helps me feel better. But I do think that a big cup of Starbucks coffee right now would give me a good start for this morning. It is ready and waiting for you. Come on in here, you are always welcome, and you my TEA drinkers I did not forget you I could never do that. DAD.
.
Here is my thought for today. It is the same one that I used yesterday. It was the only one that I could think of this morning.
.
" Cast me not off in the time of old age ; forsake me not when my strength faileth."

.
This is verse 9 of Psalm 71, the whole psalm is good. The writer of these words was speaking to God, what a great privilege we all have of going to our Heavenly Father in our deepest need. Why do I fail so many times in neglecting to do this. Dad.

.
. It is time for me to stop, I have already bothered you too much, so I want to stop while you are still my friend, I do not want to lose any friends. I do hope to see you in the early morning, let's try to be happy and content this day. Count our blessings, they are more that we realize, and I feel for myself they are more than I deserve.

The weather is still warm, and yesterday was a warm sunny day, it is starting that way again this morning. At 3 A.M. the temperature is 56 but they keep saying that it might rain. I was hoping to get a lot done in the tomato garden today but if it rains I will have to wait a few more days.
.
Mary and I did have a very busy weekend and we both feel a little tired, but time and those naps will heal that. We saw so many of our old friends, true friends for many years. We did enjoy visiting with them, it was so encouraging to talk to them. And we did make some new friends and we hope to keep in touch with them.

I have plenty of Starbucks coffee ready, and plenty of hot tea, stop in if you have the time this morning.

The weather is a little warmer this morning, the tempeature at 3 A. M. is 57, and we will have some sun today, now this is getting to be what this old man can enjoy.

.
I know that we all are needing our tea and coffee on this cool morning. It will be ready in a jiffy, sit down right there and RELAX and I will pour you a cup. And wipe that frown off your face, you know that I do not like to see frowns. So lets smile as we drink our coffee or tea.
.
This book "Call Me Dad." makes a nice gift for any Dad, new or old. " Love is the Kingdom's Banner, Lift it against the sky. Over the fields of battle, Where the needy cry."

This is a line in one of our hymns, permission given me to use this from our friends R.L. Allan and Son
in Glgasgow Scotland.

...
Here below is a little more information about the way to go on a hike in the smokies, One of the pictures is of Levi my favorite. Dad.

.

. .

Here is the e-mail I received from Laura when she sent the these three pictures.

"Hi Ray,
Nice seeing you out today. Attached above are more pictures of Levi on his first llama trek to Max Patch. He is very laid back because his best buddy, Mr. Peanut is resting nearby. The other llama is Bucky, one of our retired packers on the mound of dirt they like to play on.
Laura"

Mary and I saw Laura yesterday and she tells us that they are having Treks now, this would be a good time for you to get in touch with Laura or Lucy. And make a reservation to go on one of these hikes. You can reach them by clicking on this link below. You will find all the information that you need here,

http://www.hikinginthesmokies.com/index.html..

I thought that this below is interesting. Dad..

Think of our Llamas as your hiking companions. Not only are they going to carry the load you would normally have to contend with, most llamas enjoy the hike as much as their handler. Llamas with their keen eyes, tend to notice wildlife and draw our attention to things you would normally not even see along the trail. Their intelligence, agility and calm disposition make them outstanding pack animals. Put that together with their surefootedness, ease of handling and low impact on the environment, and you can soon see why so many have come to see trekking as a great way to enjoy the outdoors.

.

There are lots more to see over in my side panel, you can see for one Tennessee Granddaddy , and he will always make you think and smile.Dad.

.

I have not told you very much about our seven guest that we had on Thursday, it was wonderful, a very helpful day, I am saving that for later. Dad.

.

It is over time for me to bring this to a close, sometimes it's hard for me to stop when I am talking about something that I enjoy, and I do love Llamas, especially Levi. Laura is a friend of ours and she and her family have been for many years.

.I hope to see you in the early morning, and if you will have a smile I will have a big cup of Starbucks coffee or tea waiting for you, but you had better bring the smile. Let.s try to be happy and content today in the place that God has given us, remember God knows what is best for us.

ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & FOUR.

Good Morning.

( Here at 2:10 p/m the Eagles are interesting, Don't miss them. DAD )
.
Time is so precious-do not waste it.
.
Many years of life are wasted, living for thyself alone."
.

What would you say if I told you that the tea and coffeec was ready and that I was offering to pour you a cup. On this cold morning I am sure that you would smile. Well it is ready so sit down right here beside me, and visit with me for a little while. The tempeature here at Dad's Tomato Garden is 34 at 3 A.M. We have a promise of warmer weather by tomorrow, and that sounds good to me. Dad.
.
We should check on the eagles and see how they made it through the cold night. You can go up to their nest by clicking on
Eagle Web Cam I have been a little worried about them , I did now see daddy eagle all day yesterday. we are hoping that all is well with him and that he will soon return
I have checked with Helen and I hope to hear from her soon.

.
( This below from Helen, makes me feel better, thanks Helen.)
.

Hi Dad, I saw both of them at the nest tuesday evening. Thank the Good Lord. Neither one on the stayed on the nest much this morning when it was cold but they are taking turns this evening. I saw them switch over.
Have a good night.
Helen

.
This story below is a lot longer than I usualy use, but it is so good that I just had to let you read it. We are not sure of the author, someone sent it to Jim and he is letting me use it, We both would like to give credit to you whoever your are, DAD.

.
I'm A Little Tea Cup....
.
Love this story or not, you will not be able to have tea in a tea cup again without thinking of this.
There was a couple who took a trip to England to shop in a beautiful antique store to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They both liked antiques and pottery, and especially teacups. Spotting an exceptional cup, they asked "May we see that? We've never seen a cup quite so beautiful."

.
As the lady handed it to them, suddenly the teacup spoke, "You don't understand. I have not always been a teacup. There was a time when I was just a lump of red clay. My master took me and rolled me pounded and patted me over and over and I yelled out, "Don't do that! I don't like it! Let me alone." but he only smiled, and gently said; "Not yet!"

.
Then WHAM! I was placed on a spinning wheel and suddenly I was made to suit himself and then he put me in the oven. I never felt such heat. I yelled and knocked and pounded at the door. "Help! Get me out of here!" I could see him through the opening and I could read his lips as he shook his head from side to side, “Not yet”.

.
When I thought I couldn't bear it another minute, the door opened. He carefully took me out and put me on the shelf, and I began to cool. Oh, that felt so good! "Ah, this is much better," I thought. But, after I cooled he picked me up and he brushed and painted me all over. The fumes were horrible. I thought I would gag. “Oh, please, Stop it. Stop.” I cried. He only shook his head and said. “Not yet!”

..
Then suddenly he puts me back in to the oven. Only it was not like the first one. This was twice as hot and I just knew I would suffocate. I begged.. I pleaded. I screamed. I cried I was convinced I would never make it. I was ready to give up. Just then the door opened and he took me out and again placed me on the shelf, where I cooled and waited and waited, wondering "What's he going to do to me next?"

.
An hour later he handed me a mirror and said “Look at yourself.” And I did. I said, “That's not me; that couldn't be me. It's beautiful. I'm beautiful!!!”

.
Quietly he spoke: "I want you to remember, then,” he said, “I know it h urt to be rolled and pounded and patted, but had I just left you alone, you'd have dried up. I know it made you dizzy to spin around on the wheel, but if I had stopped, you would have crumbled. I know it hurt and it was hot and disagreeable in the oven, but if I hadn't put you there, you would have cracked. I know the fumes were bad when I brushed and painted you all over, but if I hadn't done that, you never would have hardened.. You would not have had any color in your life. If I hadn't put you back in that second oven, you wouldn't have survived for long because the hardness would not have held. Now you are a finished product. Now you are what I had in mind when I first began with you."

.
The moral of this story is this: God knows what He's doing for each of us. He is the potter, and we are His clay. He will mold us and make us and expose us to just enough pressures of just the right kinds that we may be made into a flawless piece of work to fulfill His good, pleasing and perfect will.

.
So when life seems hard, and you are being pounded and patted and pushed almost beyond endurance; when your world seems to be spinning out of control; when you feel like you are in a fiery furnace of trials; when life seems to "stink," try this.

.
Brew a cup of your favorite tea in your prettiest tea cup, sit down and think on this story and then, have a little talk with the Potter.

.

This is getting so long that I am ashamed of myself. would it be asking too much to ask you if you would use the side panel to day for a lot of things that I did not get here. I promise you that I will not do this again
.
I do hope to see you early in the morning if all is well. We all are going to do our best today to be kind to all we meet today, and give them a big SMILE.
