Good Morning.

( I just want to say Good Morning to you on this Sunday morning 8/16/09. I hope that all is well with you. I hope to see you in the morning with an interesting blog and a smile. DAD. )

"Time is so precious-do not waste it.''

"Begin the Day with God."

I can see that big smile on your face and I know why it's there. Because today is Saturday and many of you can stay in that bed a little longer. I hope that you do enjoy it. When you do get up you can still come see Dad. I keep the coffee pot going all day Saturday. And I do not forget my friends that like their tea.
..
I do about the same things on Saturday as I do any other morning. I like to get up early and enjoy the sounds of the night. I get that Starbucks going and when it is ready pour me a cup then sit and read and try to think of all the good things that have been done for me. I don't worry too much about my blog , I Can do that on Monday morning. If you could peep in you would see a Smile.
.
I hope that you will go by Sara's Dog Training over the week end, Mary and I plan to do that. DAD'
..
I began doing a very sad job on Friday. I began to remove the tomato plants from my garden. I did not get it completely done. I will finish Monday morning. As I have told you before this time of the year is always the saddest for me. But they were done, I hope that things will be better next year.
.
One thing that worries me is that I did not have as many tomatoes to share with some of you as I would have liked to do. If there is another time maybe I can do better. DAD.
.
Here is my thought for the weekend, it was sent to me in some notes from John M. Thanks John for all the good things that you send me. Dad.
"
" You can tell the size of a person by the size of the things that upset him. Nothing so dangerous as to want our own way. Submission is the greatest lesson to learn."
.

I am going to stop with this. I hope that you are planning on having a good profitable weekend. Our plans here are usually about the same, our Sunday morning meeting and this week a home cooked meal right here at Dad's kitchen. I prefer that above the nicest restaurant in town.
.
I am interested in all Wildlife, not just birds. And that is why I read this link below . It is very interesting and helpful to me. Dad.
.
.
This above will show you an article that was too large to use in my blog. Dad.
.
Here is what AOL tells us about the weather for today.
.
Today
Sunny. High 89F. Winds light and variable
.
You know that I won't see you until early Monday morning, be kind and have a smile for everyone until I see you again.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & FOURTEEN

Good Morning,

Picture by Mary---This tomato was produced in Dad's Garden in the 2008 season. A few years ago when we first began writing our journal we had to beg some of these big tomato companies for pictures to use and sometimes we were turned down. Now we just grow our own pictures - Tomatoes and Roses. ...DAD

Sara, Mary is going to be with me this morning as we check on Oreo & Misty. Is it o.k. if we come to Sara's Dog Training a little earlier, we are going to be working outside today I know that a lot more of my readers are planning to come later. DAD.
.
I have our tea and coffee ready, why don't we just stop right here and sit down and sip our coffee or tea as we talk. You do the talking and I will try to be a good listener. Dad.
.
Here below is a comment that I appreciate very much. Thanks Ma.

Glad you are SMILING today! There is nothing like a good nights rest to make you feel good. Our tomatoes here in northern Ohio are just now in their prime. We were much later starting than you were. Your smile is infectious so now I'm SMILING too and will pass it along today!

Here is my thought for today.

" Peace is not the absence of conflict but the ability to cope with it."

and--

" It's right to be contented with what you have but never with what you are."

Both of these thoughts are from Apples of Gold. Dad.

I am going to have something to celebrate in about two weeks from now, that's the day that I began writing this blog six days each week. It has not been easy but I have enjoyed every day of it and I hope that I have helped someone produce a few good tomatoes in their own back yard.

One thing that I do know is that I have made many friends all around this world, and I imagine a few enemies also.. I am thankful for all of you that have helped me along the way by encouraging me with your comments and good wishes. Thanks. Dad.

I will have a picture of my Entry # One in my August 28th Entry.

Still having nice weather and AOL says it looks good for the week end, lots of sun, Here it is.

.
I am really surprised this morning that I am still feeling good. We were in our bible study last night and soon after it was over I was in my bed, and I had the best nights sleep that I have had in a long time. So I am up and ready to go get'em. I can even smile this morning.
.

I hope that I can get as much done today as I did yesterday. We are removing most of the tomatoe plants from the garden because they have finished their job. We wish that they could have lasted longer. We and some of our friends did enjoy them while they lasted. Its too early to even think about next season. That is too far ahead for this old man to be making plans.
..

I always think about those Shelties early each morning. It brings back a lot of sweet memories to me as I watch Sara work with them. It make me think of my Sheltie " Scottie " who I enjoyed for a few years. Now come with me and we will see whats going on at Sars's house this morning. Here is the place Sara's Dog Training and she will welcome you in. DAD

The Whale

A female humpback whale had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a Line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate ) and radioed For help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only Way to save her was to dive in and untangle her -- a very dangerous proposition.

One slap of The tail could kill a rescuer. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, Thanking them.

Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the Whole time, And he will never be the same. May you, and all those you love, be so fortunate...

To be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude. I pass this on to you, my friend, in the same spirit.

This was sent to me by my friend Rilmich. Dad.

Here is another one of those entries too long for my blog. It is helpful and interesting. The link is below.

We are still having very nice weather, a few thunderstorms in the afternoons and it a little cooler. Here is what AOL says is going to happen today.

Today -- 8/13/09.
Generally sunny despite a few afternoon clouds. High 87F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph

I have had the tea and coffe ready since about 4 a.m. and forgot to mention it. Sorry. But I see some of you stoped in anyway, you knew what you would find. Thanks for stopping . Dad
.
This will be all for today. If all goes well I will see you Friday morning. Remember that our Smile goes all around this world and it is the same in every language. Please help me to keep it going. Sending Love and good wishes to all of you.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TWELVE

Good Morning.

"Time is so precious-do not waste it.''

"Begin the Day with God."

This view of the mountains in The Smokies is always a good thing to view in the early morning as the sun is coming up. It helps us to be thankful for all that God has prepared for us in nature. The link is below. Dad.

Great Smoky Mountains Web Cam

It is too early for me to be sure but I do think that I am feeling better this Wednesday morning. I did get a lot of rest the last few days, and I know that has helped me.. But I want to tell you another thing that has helped, I received so many emails and comments from my friends wishing me well, it touched my heart. We all need to appreciate our friends more than we do. DAD.

Now as soon as we have our hot drink coffee or tea and I finish this blog I am headed to the outside where I love to be. Everything is ready, sit down and smile..

Wait just a minute I can't go outside until I have checked on those two beautiful Shelties, Oreo and Misty you will always find them right here. Sara's Dog Training and Sara will be close by taking good care of them. Thanks so much for showing them to us Sara, they bring us a lot of pleasure watching them get their training. And what a wonderful trainer they have. I want a Sheltie so bad. DAD.

Since I have been taking it easy for a few days I have been watching the humming birds out side my office window. ( see the picture up above ) the feeder is so close to me that I can almost touch it. They began coming here the 1st of August in droves. They are a pleasure to watch. Dad.

What to take to bed with you - not a joke .

Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car.. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.
P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him.. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

Please pass this on even IF you've read it before. It's a reminder.

This above was sent to me by my good Friend rilmich. Thanks.

We had some cooler weather on Tuesday. Several thunder storms passed over in the afternoon and the temperature fell fast into the 70's for a while

AOL has the prediction for today ready. Here it is.

Today-- 8/12/09
Variable clouds with showers and thundershowers, mainly this morning. High 84F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

It's time to go and since I am feeling so much better I don't want to stop, but I must. I tell you that it is wonderful to be able to smile and it really coming from your heart. I feel that I can do enough today to pay for the coffee that I drink.

If every thing continues to be good today you can look for me at your door real early on Thursday morning. I am going to Smile today and I want you all to join me if it is possible.

I am glad that I have you as my friend.

Lynne has left a new comment on your post "ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & TEN": Good morning, Dad! I'm so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Stay cool and hydrated today. It will be a warm one today. I'm moving a bit slow myself today and decided to just take my time.

It is good to be reminded that we should include God in all things...and not just when we are having a melt down. May God Bless and keep you this day! Lynne.

I do appreciate the comments that I receive, like the one above from my friend Lynne. Thanks Lynne. DAD.

Great Smoky Mountains Web Cam ---A beautiful view in the smokies. Dad.

I did make some coffee and tea a little while ago we could try a cup of that, sometimes that will get me started. I am going to let one of you pour our drink this morning. I am going to sit right here and wait on you. Dad.

“I live in Brooklyn and I am growing tomatoes on my fire escape using a “Topsy Turvy” planter.
They have been growing beautifully until work called me out of town and I asked my 10 year old to water them. Now I have alot of yellow leaves. However I am not sure his over or under watering is the problem because the yellow leaves are the ones that get the least light.
Does anyone have any suggestion?”

Uncle Ray,

If you took my watercolor classes, you would be the "Teacher's Pet!" I could teach you how to paint a tomato too - not just grow them! I finished today's watercolor classes about half and hour ago and had a great time sharing watercolor tips! So, come on anytime to class and bring a cup of that good coffee with you. Thanks for sharing info about my blog with all of your readers. Karen .

I would like to attend some of these Burpee meetings mentioned in the link below. Dad.

The weather has been hot and I think that it is going to continue for a few days. Here is what AOL weather tells us about it. The tempeature is starting out this morning at 75.

Today- 9/10/09
Partial cloudiness early, with scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. High near 90F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30 %.

We should take time to look in on Oreo and Misty this monday morning and see how they are feeling after a weekend of rest. You can find them if you will stop right here. Sara's Dog Training I checked on them over the weekend and saw that there had been a lot going on, so interesting be sure and read it today. Thanks Sara for letting us see this. DAD.

It Ain't Easy Bein' Green --Click on this.

I have not mentioned Mandy in a few days. You would remember that she is my great granddaughter. She and her husband Alex are the ones that help me get my Wildlife Habitat. Try and check on her blog today, its interesting.

Glen in Australia -- Glen would like to see you anytime that you can come, and he says that Australia is a beautuful country. Tell Glen that Dad sent you. I know that he will let you in.

Great Smoky Mountains Web Cam -- A beautiful view on a clear day.

Here is my thought for today.

" Lots of folks who beg God for help in a crisis think that they can manage alone when the danger is past."

I have had this little thought for many years. I do not know the author, but I would like to thank the person that wrote it. DAD

I must bring this blog to a close. I am not feeling good this morning and did not feel like writing what I have already said. Mabye as the day goes on things will improve. I am going to go slow this morning. I wish the very best of all you my friends. You have stood by me through the years. Keep smiling today and it will help me to do the same. I will be back in the morning if I am able.

ENTRY # EIGHTEEN HUNDRED & NINE

Good Morning.

[ Dad would like to say Hi on this Sunday morning. I hope to see you in the morning. DAD]

Picture above taken by Mary. 8/07/09. I am enjoying the birds and all wildlife that come to my house, even the squirrels. DAD.

"Time is so precious-do not waste it."

" Begin the Day with God."

I think that this is Saturday morning and I am happy that it is. This past week has been a little hard on me. It seems that everything has been done in a rush and I would like to settle down to a little slower life for a while.

And you remember how we handle the tea and coffee on Saturday. You do not have to be in any hurry this morning I will be home all day and I will have plenty of both ready, so stop in anytime. Maybe we can have a little more time to visit. DAD.

Here is something that Dad recommends.

http://www.americanprofile.com/

I have a niece who lives in the western part of Tennessee. She writes a blog that I like very much and I think that you will like it also. Click on this link BrushStrokes and you will be at her house and I know that you will receive a welcome,

Here below is what Karen says about her Art.

'' My watercolor experiences as I grow as an artist – through new techniques, painting successes and happy mistakes...sharing a tip or two, paintings, and enjoyment along the way. So, grab your paintbrush and let’s begin! '' Karen.

( I wonder if she would take me as a student, she may have an age bracket but I am only 96, I hope that she will see this and let me know. DAD )

Here is the weather report, sounds very good to me. This is from AOL.

Today 8/08/09.
Partly cloudy. High 92F. Winds light and variable.

I always check on Oreo and Misty each morning. They may not work on Saturday but we can stop in any way and say Hi and tell them how much that we love them. You will always find them right here Sara's Dog Training Thanks Sara for letting us see them. DAD.

Here is my thought for this day. Sunday 8/08/09.

" Oh for the peace of a perfect trust. My loving God in Thee. Unwavering faith that never doubts. Thy choice is best for me."

" And e'en tho dissappointments come they too are best for me. To wean me from this changing world. And lead me nearer Thee. "

This thought is from one of my favorite hymns. R. L. Allan and son of Glasgow Scotland gave me permission to use this.

Since this is Saturday I am going to leave you wih my side panel and stop, but I will be back Monday morning if all goes well..

Mary and I have just about the same plans that we have every weekend. Our Sunday morning meeting is the most important thing to us. We have been invited to have lunch with two of our friends, Don & Martha and we have accepted that.

Smile & be kind untill I see you early Monday morning.
