Good Morning.

My son, Jim, went fishing on Thursday to Douglas Lake. He and his buddies caught 23 nice “croppies”. They are delicious to eat, and I’m hoping he bring me a mess soon.DAD

Look at that smile, he must have saw something funny, or heard a joke from one of his friends,

Jim loves to fish and I am glad that he is retired from Eastman and has a chance to go often. He has a nice pontoon boat, and he has two other fishermen that go with him.

If you will click on Outside Cam # 1 you will see a beautiful Flag waving in the wind and right below the Flag is a Blue Bird box with 3 or 4 baby blue birds. I have been watching them being fed today. DAD.

You can tell by the picture above that is just about time to be thinking about Dad's tomato sandwiches. This of course is not my main garden, just a few Bradwines on the left end of this planter, and six Bigboys on the right. Just could not wait any longer,for the Burpee plants to arrive, they will be here early next week, then you will see some action around here, Dad.

I must stop before I get throwed out on my ear, I have said more than I should have this morning. But I am feeling good, full of pep and is hard for me to find a place to park. Sundays plans are about the same as usual. Our Sunday morning meeting, and then a lunch at home in Dad's kitchen with Prince, mabye a short nap in the afternoon.

As you know I do not write a journal on Sunday. I do plan to talk to you as we drink a cup of Sumatra x bold on Monday morning.

Good Morning.

Can it be Friday already, time is sure going fast, and I am not making very good use of the short time that I have left. I had better wake up and do something useful before I leave this fading scene. One of our hymns says " Change and decay in all around I see , Oh thou who changes not abide with me "

Recipes

Tomato Pie Made with Alabama grown tomatoes.

1 unbaked pie shell 2 large tomatoes (sliced, salted, peppered, and floured) 1 small onion, thinly sliced 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced 1 tsp. Italian seasoning 4 oz. mixed vegetables (fresh or canned) 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 cup grated cheese Directions Layer in order in pie crust, except cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Top with cheese. Let stand about 10 minutes. Serve with your favorite salsa and salad!

You may have noticed in the label for this post I said " save your eggs " now you may not know what that means to me, when I was a little boy many years ago we were raised in a happy but poor home. My mother had a few chickens that she kept and she sold the eggs to help buy other things, and just a few days before Easter she would save the the eggs to color and hide them for her happy children to search for. Oh what fun we had. Dad

Oh what a difference in the lives of our young people today. Dad.

I wish that I could stay and visit you a little longer, but I must get out of here and try to earn at least the salt that goes in my bread.

Good Morning

I always like to ask about you first and then I can tell you how Dad is feeling. I am in good shape this morning for a change. My mood is Happy and I have no complaints, a good rest last night and it looks like that I am ready to face the world. We got of loose ends tied up yesterday and that is a good feeling. Now today we intending to keeping on doing what we can to rush up those tomatoes, I am getting so hungry for a good tomato sandwich made with one of Dads home grown tomatoes. Smile.

How are you this morning ? DAD'S FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

Sautéed Cherry Tomatoes - Serves 4

From JOAN PUTNICK .

2 Tablespoon butter 1 Pint Cherry Tomatoes ¼ teaspoon salt Dash pepper 2 Tablespoon chopped fresh basil 2 Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley 2 Tablespoon thinly sliced green onion 1 ½ teaspoon finely chopped garlic Melt 1 Tablespoon butter in a large skillet. Add tomatoes and salt and pepper. Sauté until skins start to split open…about 3 minutes. Stir in parsley, basil, green onions and garlic. Cook stirring for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Add 1 Tablespoon butter. Stir to coat well. Serve immediately.

From Dad Dad's Southern Fried Green Tomatoes

*6 GreenTomatoes *Salt and Pepper *Corn Meal *Vegetable Oil *2 Eggs, beaten Slice the tomatoes into 1/4-1/2 inch slices. Salt and pepper them to taste.Dip slices in beaten egg, then in the corn meal.Fry in hot oil about three minutes on each side until golden brown.

Very Good!Dad's Salsa

1 medium green pepper, chopped2 celery ribs, chopped1 small onion, chopped1 medium carrot, chopped1/4 cup minced fresh cilantro or parsley2 cups fresh tomatoes, diced1/2 cup water1/2 cup tomato sauce1/3 cup tomato paste3 garlic cloves, minced1 tablespoon lemon juice1/4 teaspoon pepperTortilla chips In a bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. In another bowl, combine the water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, lemon juice and pepper; stir into the vegetable mixture. Serve with chips. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield: about 3 cups.

This is the day that we all are looking for I do not write a Journal on Sunday, I will be back on Monday morning.As you possibly already know that Mary and I do have a Sunday morning meeting to attend which means so much to us. We need the help that we get there so much, it helps to keep on going .
