TUESDAYS ENTRY # TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FORTY

******************************
Here is my first update this morning, it began snowing about an hour ago, and the ground is covered. Here is the funny part, Prince is sitting in the window looking out, and you know that this is the first snow that he has ever seen, He turns and looks at me as if to ask what is going on.

'' Begin the day with God "
.
Good Morning.
.
I hope that all is well at your house this Tuesday morning, and that you are Happy and content, I like the poems of Edgar Guest very much, Here below are two for us to enjoy today. It is to cold to leave our warm house, so read poetry .Dad .
.

Sofine's Edgar Guest Collection (1881-1959) Edgar A. Guest began his illustrious career in 1895 at the age of fourteen when his work first appeared the Detroit Free Press. His column was syndicated in over 300 newspapers, and he became known as "The Poet of the People."
.
What I Call Living

.
Edgar Guest
.
The miser thinks he's living when he's hoarding up his gold;
The soldier calls it living when he's doing something bold;
The sailor thinks it living to be tossed upon the sea,
And upon this vital subject no two of us agree.
But I hold to the opinion, as I walk my way along,
That livings made of laughter and good-fellowship and song.
I wouldn't call it living always to be seeking gold,
To bank all the present gladness for the days when I'll be old.
I wouldn't call it living to spend all my strength for fame,
And forgo the many pleasures which to-day are mine to claim.
I wouldn't for the splendor of the world set out to roam,
And forsake my laughing children and the peace I know at home.
Oh, the thing that I call living isn't gold or fame at all!
It's good-fellowship and sunshine, and it's roses by the wall;
It's evenings glad with music and a hearth fire that's ablaze,
And the joys which come to mortals in a thousand different ways.
It is laughter and contentment and the struggle for a goal;
It is everything that's needful in the shaping of a soul.

God Made This Day For Me

Edgar Guest
...

Jes' the sort o' weather and jes' the sort of sky
Which seem to suit my fancy, with the white clouds driftin' by
On a sea o' smooth blue water. Oh, I ain't an egotist,
With an "I" in all my thinkin', but I'm willin' to insist
That the Lord who made us humans an' the birds in every tree
Knows my special sort o' weather an' he made this day fer me.
This is jes' my style o' weather--sunshine floodin' all the place,
An' the breezes from the eastward blowin' gently on my face;
An' the woods chock full o' singin' till you'd think birds never had
A single care to fret 'em or a grief to make 'em sad.
Oh, I settle down contented in the shadow of a tree,
An' tell myself right proudly that the day was made fer me.
It's my day, my sky an' sunshine, an' the temper o' the breeze--
Here's the weather I would fashion could I run things as I please:
Beauty dancin' all around me, music ringin' everywhere,
Like a weddin' celebration--why, I've plumb fergot my care
An' the tasks I should be doin' fer the rainy days to be,
While I'm huggin' the delusion that God made this day fer me.

.
This poem above does not fit in with this weather that we are having,I like the poem anyway. It is cold here this morning 22 degrees at 3 a.m. and a high of only 32 expected, how can you even talk about tomatoes in weather like that, but I can talk about smiles I try to produce them as well as tomatoes.
.
. I am having a cup of Sumatra x bold coffee, and I know that 3 a.m. is to early to offer you a cup, I will be making more later, I was think about Sara, Misty and Oreo, I don't know what the tempeature is at Sara's Dog Training blog I am sure that it is lower than ours. I am not worried I know Sara well enough to know that she would not let them get cold. DAD.

Good Morning DAD....

The aroma of the Sumatra called out to me so here I am on this very cold morning. It must be cold because Len actually put on a winter jacket today. Yesterday we had some snowflakes and the weather man says snow this weekend. I sure hope not, I want to see my grandsons and I have to travel 5 hours (at least it will be "south" heading down to NJ).

I so, so enjoyed reading the poems. As I read What I Call Living, I thought this is the best of Edgar Guest. While reading God Made this Day for Me, I thought both of these poems could have been written by Ray White (DAD). Edgar Guest's words are the actions and advise offered each day by you. Both Guest and DAD start the day off with WORDS and a SMILE that are contagious.

With a pot of Sumatra and a book of poems in hand and Prince on your lap, you won't even notice how cold it is outside. Enjoy this December day! ...Sara's Mom

Good talking to you this morning, Dad. On my Google Ads, I have 4 listed in a box...but I don't see that on your blog. I did click on Record Relics which I done once before. Let me know if there are other ads that I missed.

Dear Dad, Ms. Mary, and sweet Prince Charming!: Prince must be amazed at the snow! Sounds like a perfect day to cuddle him and drink some nice hot Sumatra coffee and maybe have some soup made with tomatoes? I made a big cauldron with 13 vegetables (including tomatoes, of course!) and am really enjoying it. Just add a salad and/or some bread or crackers, and an apple or a tangerine for dessert ;) Love to you all, and special purrs to the Prince! from Jamaka and fams >^^<

Hi Dad, I loved those two poems. I looked at your cams and see the snow is all just about gone. I missed seeing it. I did see lots of birds on cam 3. Take care in this extra cold weather. Hugs to you, Mary and Prince. Helen

Good Afternoon DAD...

SNOW! It is always so beautiful looking from the inside out. There are lots of birds at the feeder also wondering what is going all. Wonder if Prince is interested in the snow or the birds. Do stay indoors. I have dinner cooking in the oven and it is warming up the house at the same time...maybe it will help to melt the first icicle hanging from my roof. I expect to read a SNOW poem tomorrow.
