Here in the Tennessee Valley at 3 A.M. the tempeature is 67. We are supposed to have plenty of sun again today. This is wonderful tomato growing weather. And my garden is doing wonderfully. In a few day's I am going to have a few fried green tomatoes.
.
You will see a lot of activity around the garden today. Ted my next door neighbor is going to cultivate the garden this morning. And then my good friends Michael and Pamela will be here to do a little work on our two Cams. We are going to try and give you a better view of the garden, and also try to stop some of those times when the Cams are out of service.
.
So I need to make this just a little short this morning so I will be ready when the work begins. I am feeling better this morning. Mary and I had a nice weekend. We visited Jim and Beverly yesterday afternoon and were with them in an evening meeting.

I mentioned yesterday that we had done some work on the lighting for our flag. I looked at it last night and it does look better. I hope that you will get to see it tonight. Nothing more beautiful than our flag waving in the wind and especially in the dark of the night. Dad.
.
Here in Tennessee we have a temperature of 68 at 3 a.m. and the temperature is going to be lower only 75 for today. The thunderstorms that we have been having is bringing the temperature down.

ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & FIFTY ONE.

Good Morning.
.
.
I am hoping that all is well with you this morning, this is Wednesday and that means that another weekend is drawing near. We can always use weekends.Tuesday was another nice day at 6:30 yesterday afternoon the temperature was 88 and not a cloud in sight. This Wednesday morning we have a 66 and another high expected to be near 90. A few showers are mentioned.

..
I was in the tomato garden at 7 a.m. yesterday morning giving the plants a little water it has not rained in several days and I thought that a little drink might make them feel better. I have changed my watering schedule for this season. I do all of my watering in the early morning so that the sun will dry any water that might be on the vines, I feel that help keep some of the blight away that some of us have to put up with. So far this year I can see a big difference.
. .

.
I want to mention the eaglets right here. This Eagle Web Cam will let you see them, but don't wait too long. The link below will tell you a little of what for us to expect. I for one do want to say Thanks to every one that had any thing to do with letting us see the eagles. DAD.
.
http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/eaglecam/
.
The link above will give you some more interesting information about the eaglets and the Cam. Notice the spot on the screen, find out what that is. DAD.
.
I received this below from Helen, it will almost make you cry. DAD
.
"I rescued a human today. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in some one's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one." .
.
I received this in an email and thought it was good..Thanks Helen. Here is a Kleenex. Dad.
.
We have been searching for a good spot light for our flag light. I think that we have finally found what we want. We got one of them installed yesterday. There is one more to install and we will do that soon. Look at it tonight after dark and see if looks any better. That is on Cam # 1. I love to look at my screen about midnight and be able to see the flag waving in the wind. DAD.
.
Here is my thought for this day. Taken from Philippians chapter 4 and verse 13. This chapter is our bible study for tonight.
.
" I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Spoken by Paul, what a wonderful thing to be able to say.

ENTRY # SEVENTEEN HUNDRED & FORTY NINE

Good Morning.
.
Time is so precious-do not waste it, living for thyself alone. Live for others...
..

The sun never sets on Dad's Tomato Garden Journal.

.
Monday is here again, are you ready for it ? I feel like that I am. I am always glad to get back to work in the tomato garden. And the weather that we are having is making it a little more interesting. Sunday afternoon it was hot and no rain, just plenty of that good sunshine. And at 4 p.m. I noticed that the tempeature was 84. That sure will make those tomatoes grow.
.
Here is the weather report for this monday, and it sounds good to me.
.
Sunny skies and a high of 88. I like that. And to start the day here at 3 a.m. the tempeature is 70.
.
.

The first thing that I am going to do this morning is get some coffee and tea started. I know that all of you are ready for a cup. We all know that it takes that coffe or tea to get us started. It will be raady in about 5 minuets. Sit here and talk to me while we wait. Dad.
.
This is the week that we are going to visit Kelly and her family, friends and all her chickens. The day that we go we are going to meet them at a nice restaurant that she has chosen. Then after we have visited there for a little while we are going on to their home and visit all those chickens. I hope to get some good pictures and maybe a video. This is something that we have never done, but I do bleive that it will be nice. Kelly is amoung some of my first readers, and I appreciate all the good stuff that she has sent me that I was able to use on my blog. Dad.
.
Here is a question from one of my readers who lives in Kingsport, Tn. I am going to try and help him. DAD.
.
I'm having tomato problems.
3 of my 4 plants seem to have the top leaves curling up. It does not look good. What is it and can it be fixed?

.
This link below will show you a few leaf problems, but I don't think that it includes your problem. I will have more for you tomorrow. Dad.

If you are here around 7 a.m. it will be getting daylight and we could go up to the Eagle Web Cam and see how things are going. It can't be much longer untill they are going to take off. Dad.
.
Below is a example of what you will find over in my side panel. Be sure and look over there. Dad.

You will even find Tennessee Granddaddy over there and I know that you don't want to miss him.

Here is my thought for today.
.
" The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention. "
.

From Apples of Gold.
.
It is a long way past time for me to go again. The same old excuse I am out of coffee, But I will be back again in the morning. Be kind, content, happy and have a big smile today if you can. Most things that we think about that might happen, never happen. Why worry it don't help at all.
