I am so happy that the eagles are with us again. We enjoyed them very much last year and I know that we will enjoy them again. .Web Cams and Skype Our granddaughter, Kara, has a new web cam. And it motivated Dad and me to also get web cams. We now have web cams installed and are learning to use Skype. I think it will be interesting to keep touch with some of our friends that lives far away. We are looking forward to using the cams to keep in touch with our friends in Ireland, Columbia, Australia, Italy and Mexico as well in other places in the USA. I have not talked to Mary yet this morning, She has been feeling very bad for the last while. She was so sorry to have to stop writing her blog, but it was necessary. We will be going to the Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville the first week in February where she is scheduled for a consultation with doctors there who specialize in treating Parkinson's Disease. Her Neurologist here referred her. Mary sends her love and good wishes to all of you.

.I hope that all of you are feeling good this Wednesday morning. I think that there will be some better weather here soon and that will cheer us up. I had a good day yesterday and a very good restful night. And I am now having a cup of Starbucks Sumatra X bold, and I think that will get me to going in the right direction, out side.

I do not have very much planned for this Tueday morning. We got a lot done on Monday. The weather was much better in the afternoon and I wish that you could have been with me, you would have seen some Happy singing Birds. When they see my cart coming out they begin to fly in out of the trees, Singing very loudly, they know what is on the way.

The only other trip tha we made outside was to pick up my new glasses. Yes Mary finally talked me buying them I did need new glasses, and I do say that I am doing much better with them.

A Motivational Smile - Are you a Carrot, an Egg or Coffee Bean?

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life, and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it, and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first pot, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?" "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they got soft. She then asked her to take the egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to smell and sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she smelled and tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What's the point, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity- boiling water-but each reacted differently.
- The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.
- The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.
- The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When trials and adversity knock on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a passive heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside, am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or, am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you become better and change the situation around you.

When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level?

( Hi, this is Sunday morning at 4 a.m. 1/10/10 I do not write a blog on Sunday but I will see you Monday morning if all goes well. This morning I just wanted to give you the tempeature it is 23 degres, and tell you that I love you. DAD, )

This is another cold morning, how does 14 degrees sound to you. Since it is so cold I am going to make us a pot of Starbucks coffee and have it ready if your are able to stop in. But it is cold and the roads are slick so please don't take any chances. I love all of you and I sure don't want to loose any of you. DAD.

This weather in the low teens has been with us for several days and I have begun to worry about my roses, I covered them with mulch but not very heavy. I have some beautiful roses I sure would hate to loose them, but if I do I can replace them. Jackson & Perkins have pleny more.

When an old man gets to thinking of the years he’s traveled through, He hears again the laughter of the little ones he knew. It is another cold morning and it is Saturday morning. I do wish that Sara, Oreo and Misty could just stay in today, but Sara may have other plans, she usually does, and we can't stop her.
