DADS TUESDAYS ENTRY TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FORTY SEVEN

                    116 Countries
                     3500 cities
Live for others every day, it is the true the better way, this the way the Son of G0d, when on earth as Savour Trod. That sounds good, why don't we do it ourselves this day. DAD
Good Morning.
Yes sir, I am in a HAPPY mood this morning, and I hope that I am finding you the same. I have no plans right now, it is to early for any sensible person to be even out of bed, but here I am doing my best to make you smile, I try to produce more smiles in the winter month, then you watch me produce Tomatoes and Roses when spring comes, that is my job and I want to do my best. I hope to have more than I had last year and no hail, the hail storm put me out of business last spring.

WHAT'S NEW AT MY HOUSE...This is good I know I read it every day, Ma is a long time friend of mine.DAD
Now coffee is on my mind, not just any coffee but Starbucks Sumatra x bold. that is the best, and I know that my friend Joan will agree with me. Sit down and I will pour( Oh how I wish that I could ) DAd.
A Child's View of Thunderstorms

A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning.
The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school. She also feared the electrical storm might harm her child. Full of concern, the mother got into her car and quickly drove along the route to her child's school.  As she did, she saw her little girl walking along.
At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile.  More lightning followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile
When the mother drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called, "What are you doing?"
The child answered, "I am trying to look pretty because God keeps taking my picture."

May God bless you today and every day as you face the storms that come your way!
Thanks Joan for the above, I like it DAD.
It is about time for me to think about that good Oxygen treatment that I get five days each week, it is doing wonders for me, and I don't want to miss it, Thanks Dr Hall and every one of your staff for their Smiles and Kindness to me, Oh I was going to ask you, what is your mood for this day?

    DADS SATURDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE

    l

    Begin the day with God, continue the day with God, end the day with God

    Good Morning

    Yes, yes I am in a happy mood, if you are not why not ?

    One reason that I am happy is because this is my last journal for this week, I am writing this one for two days, today and Sunday, and then after a little relaxing and renewing I will be back Monday, full of pep and ready to go to work and give you a fresh new journal.DAD.

    I am sad that I will not get my Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy today. we do not go on Saturday so it will be Monday moring before I am able to get a treatment, thats a long time to wait for something you love so much.  I am so happy for what this Oxygen has done for me, and I am sure that it will do the same for you, to get started first thing you should do is call your personal doctor and I am sure that he knows all about it already  and he will know what to do for you, I hope that you can join us. I will tell you one thing that you will see a lot of SMILES and the kindest treatment that you have ever received.

    I would like to thank every one by name, (and I am going to try that when I can get them all) that has been so kind to this old grumpy man This smile and kindness begins when I am picked up at the parking lot until I am helped back to my car after the Oxygen. What more could you expect?

    I do want to tell you that Mary has been so much help to me in all of this, getting up early and seeing that I am dressed properly for the day and then driving me to the parking lot. I thank her for this, and I wish that you would thank her to.  DAD

    After all of this blabbering do you think that I have lost my mind,maybe I have but I am happy and content, I have no complaints this morning.

    This is a little update to let you know how we are doing here in East. Tennessee. I am writing this in red so you will know what it is, and the weather has turned out to be beautiful temperature 48 degrees with plenty of sun here at 12:06 pm we are low on supplies, we trade our eggs , butter and other produce for things like salt and soda

  • Ha,Ha just teasing you. it did use to be like that when I was young about 98 years ago.We are going to Kroger and they only accept folding money and we better take plenty because groceries have advanced  very much, I must slow down and just buy only the things that we really need. DAD

  • I do have more but as I always do on Saturday  I hold this open until late afternoon to get any thing that you might send my way. I have enjoyed the visit.

    We do not want to ever forget this " Time is so precious-do not waste it"

    Good Morning.

    WHAT'S NEW AT MY HOUSE

    Dear Dad, Ms. Mary, and sweet Prince:

    Prince always has the best ideas ;)

    That is very interesting information about the HBOT! It is also used in the treatment of burn survivors' skin, I know. Some years back, out here in L.A., there were O2 cafes where people went to breathe pure oxygen. I have never been to one, but those who enjoyed them seemed to derive a lot of beneficial effects from them.

    It sounds like you are having some nice early Autumn weather. We are, too, finally! Wishing you all a good evening and sending love and PURRS from Jamaka and fams <3

    We do not go for the Saturday oxygen treatment, we do need one day to sleep late, and to also get ready for our Meeting. We are expecting a few guest this afternoon, tea and cookies I imagine.

    The coffee has been  ready for a little while and I have been sipping on it as I write, shame on me, come on sit down and I will pour, now don't that taste and smell good. Dad.

    I do keep these Saturdays entries open until late afternoon, I don't want to miss anything interesting that might com in. If you have anything that you want to show just send it to DAD at white616r@aol.com and he will take care of it for you.

    I have enjoyed this little visit so much, and if not before, you will see me back here early Monday morning.

    DADS SATURDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED EIGHTT

    This is our Good Saturday morning that we like.

    '''TIME IS SO PRECIOUS- PLEASE DO NOT WASTE IT'"

    As we go out into he unknown future, daily seek the presence of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit & we will have a successful day & God will crown the day  with His goodness.

    This video shows the memorial that was built in Washington DC in honor of those killed either in the plane or in the pentagon on 9/11/01.  It is subtle and lovely and peaceful.

    http://www.aol.com/video/youve-got-jim-laychak/1147977925001/

    This above is a couple of days early, maybe I will show it through Saturdays entry which can be viewed on Sunday. DAD.

    Sad memories indeed, but America did not give up in despair or fear, what a great privilege  to be an American.

    Joan ask me to give you this, it can also be found in the side panel-" My Memories "

    I want to write today a little about my first school days, which was a long time ago, it would have been in 1919. There sure are a lot of changes since that time. I remember very well the little two room school building that I attended. The name of the school was White's School. It was named after my grandfather because he gave the land for the school to be built on. As I mentioned before, the school had two rooms. They were called the little room and the big room. In the little room were the first four grades - first, second, third, and fourth, and one teacher took care all four grades and all the different subjects that were taught. In the big room was the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, and the teacher in this room was the principal of the school. There was a long bench in the front of our desks facing the teacher. When school began in the morning our teacher would call the first grade to come to the front and sit on the bench. Then we would have about an hour of teaching, and then return to our desks, and the next class would be called up. And that continued until all classes were over. In the time that we were not in class we sat at our desks in the same room trying to study for our next class.

  • I am going to be telling you about the school facilities or the lack of them. I know some of these things may sound like "hard times," but I appreciate every hard experience that I had.

    Talking more about my old school--One of my comments was did we have a bell to ring at the beginning of each school day. I was about to forget to mention that. Thanks J for reminding me. Yes we did have a bell; there was a belfry on the top of the building. The rope to ring the bell came down into the big room. The teacher would let different ones of us students ring the bell. We were so proud and felt so important when it was our day.

    Of course we did not have any place to play inside, so all our play time was outside. I think that baseball and basketball were the most popular games. Since we did not have a cafeteria we ate our lunch on sunny days outside, and at our desk when it was raining. We had to bring our lunch from home because there was none sold in walking distance of the school.

    We didn't have central heat, of course, in our rooms. Each room had a large, iron pot-belly stove. One of our teachers came up with a good idea for us. During the cold months she made us a big pot of stew for our lunch on the stove. Each student could bring anything from their home, such as a potato, tomato, corn, or anything that would work in the stew. The teacher brought a piece of beef. She would put the stew on to cook in the morning, and it would be ready for us at lunch time.  We were supposed to bring from home our bowl and a spoon and a piece of corn bread. That was our lunch, and we all had a little part in it. About an hour before lunch time that stew sure began to smell good. We could hardly wait for the lunch hour to come.

    Don't you think this was nice? I still love beef stew. There are a few more things I want to mention. We did not have a school bus, so that meant a walk to and from school, which we all enjoyed very much. And then I just wanted to mention that there was not a janitor at school so my brother Ralph and I got the job of sweeping out the school rooms each day after school was out. Then in the winter months we would come to school about an hour early in the morning to start a fire in the two big iron stoves. And I remember so well the first book we had. It was it was a reader titled, Baby Ray and his little dog Penny. I sure would like to have one of those books now. If any of you know where I could get one I sure would be glad to hear from you.

    Even though I have mentioned a lot of what could be considered as "hardships," I didn't see them as that, and I still don't. I'm so glad I had the privilege of attending White's School. We loved our teachers very much, and they were good teachers who took an interest in us and wanted us to do well in school. To this day I can still remember their names. There were 8 of them.

    My first teacher was Edna Finger. She was an excellent teacher and helped me so much when school was a new experience for me. Another teacher that comes to mind was Sam Capps. I don't remember the year he taught. He was a real friend to me. Some days he would send me and one of my friends, Clyde, to a little store about a mile from the school to get him some Hershey Kisses. He loved chocolate, and when we got back he would always give us each a Hershey Kiss. We thought that was something. It was on our lunch hour that we went. I graduated from White's School in 1927. There were only 6 in the class, and I think that one other man and I are the only ones left.

    I won't ever forget my days at White's School.

  • Loved reading about your school years.  I will read it again tomorrow and maybe on Sunday too.  I am smiling big. Joan.

  • Here below is the first school book that I used in school

    I don't have a copy of the book but there are several links on the web to the book but this one I liked the best because if you click on the pages on the left column, you can see some of the wonderful drawings and some of the stories. With your memory, you will probably remember each of the stories the read starting in 1917 when the books were first published. I wonder if some of my fiends would remember this book or maybe own one.

    DADS MONDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE

    Good Monday morning.

    Today

    Periods of heavy rain. High 23C. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph. Rainfall around 50mm.

    Cloudy with periods of rain, some heavy early. High around 75F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph. Rainfall possibly over two inches

    Here is an appropriate poem for this rainy week, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: Thanks Joan, that fits right in our day. DAD

    RAINY DAY

    The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
    It rains, and the wind is never weary;
    The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
    But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
    And the day is dark and dreary.
    My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
    It rains, and the wind is never weary;
    My thoughts still cling to the moldering Past,
    But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast
    And the days are dark and dreary.
    Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
    Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
    Thy fate is the common fate of all,
    Into each life some rain must fall,
    Some days must be dark and dreary.

    I usually call these Monday mornings the best morning of the week for me, but not this one, the first thing is it is a holiday-Labor Day, and things are going to be very quite around. I get lonesome . and the weather that you see above, over two inches of rain and only 75 is the high for the day, this is all from the tornado. My feeble plans for today were to sit on the patio and enjoy the wildlife passing by, now you may find me taking a nap with Prince.

    " The secret is to become wise before you get old"

    Taken from A fathers book of wisdom"

    Mary also had plans for today, she has been working so hard for the past  weeks, so she is planning to go to Pigeon Forge and take a little break and maybe a little shopping. I don't know if this weather will change her mind or not.

    DADS TUESDAYS ENTRY THREE THOUSAND NINETY FIVE

    Good Morning.
    .
    Today's weather report June 7th 2011.
    Mix of sun and clouds. Near record high temperatures. High 34C. Winds light and variable.
    Sunshine and clouds mixed. Near record high temperatures. High 94F. Winds light and variable.

    That report makes me smile, with just a good shower today and I would feel a little better, it is fast becoming dry here at Dads Tomato Garden, but we have tried to give the tomatoes a little water about every other day.
    .
    Shooting My Universe Here is one that I always and as many do make time to look at it. Thanks Steve. DAD.
    .

    It is now 4:40 A.M. Tuesday morning, I awoke at 2 A. M. and I could not go back to sleep, I said to myself it is to0 early to be writing a blog, what can I do with the time, and here was my thought why don't you just sit here sipping on a cup of your x bold coffee and think of all the blessings, all the good things that have come your way in the past years of your life, and try not to have one thought about a few times when I may have been discouraged, they were few anyway.

    ....
    I know that these blessing began early in life. A good Dad and Mom who were so kind to me, they began taking me to Sunday morning meetings when I was a very young boy, I should always Thank them for that.
    .
    When I met LaVerne in 1935 at one of our church conventions and fell in love with her, and we were married Nov,29th 1935. Then I did realize that I had so very much to be thankful for. LaVerne was known for her kindness and love for every one, at her funeral one of her favorites songs " Live for others every day, Be a blessing while you may" was used. The years that we were together were the best of my life.
    ....
    I could never forget what my two children have meant to me, most of you know them both Jim and Mary, it seems that I just grew up with them, we were together at work or play they were there. I have pulled them many miles on Douglas lake where they were expert water skiers, and the blessing of it all is that they are still with me, and since I an old man now they are now helping me to keep on going a little longer. Ain't I fortunate, I got the best bargain. DAD
    ....
    I had better stop this, it would take more than one book to tell you everything, but it at least gives you a little of what went on in my young life. Now why don't you sit down and count your blessings, and I know that it will be as the song says, " You will be surprised what the Lord has done"
