I hope that the thought for the day above is better than the one yesterday. Being close to the fountain you could not hear it for the rushing of the water. These thoughts are important to me. I like to start each new day with at least one good thing to think about. Dad.

Let’s get this cleared up right now: the late blight is not the fault of the tomatoes, heirloom or hybrid.
Nor is it the fault of the home gardeners who are trying to distance themselves, even just a little, from the corporate food grid.
It’s not the fault of potatoes, or the recession, or Michelle Obama.
And it’s only kind of the fault of the big box plant brokers who sold the infected plants.
No, the bulk of the blame for the epidemic of late blight this growing season belongs squarely where the blame for epidemics nearly always belongs: Mama Nature. We had a cool, wet spring and early summer, and the blight just loved it. Hey, it happens.

How did it get to be September so quick? I am not going to waste my precious time this week...my last week of summer vacation! I'll be spending it reading a few books, playing with the dogs, and soaking in the fresh air while I can.

I love the Wise Old Owl also. It's a cooler here this morning with a nice little breeze blowing. I'm so ready for Fall! There's nothing like those cooler temps. I'm sure it will be much cooler there before here.

After enjoying a strong cup of coffee with you earlier this morning, I decided not to waste the day. I had some mending to do and when I told a friend my sewing machine was open, she dropped off some of her things that needed a stitch or two. After the mending I washing the kitchen windows...a southern exposure with lots of sun. I love looking out at the yard and the birds through sparkling windows..it makes me smile! Now for a coffee break on the patio relaxing and listening to the birds chirp. ..Sara's Mom

Oh, that's a favorite Thought For The Day, Dad -- one to take to heart and one to live, don't you agree? I like that one a lot!
And I had to SMILE when I read about the tomato blight -- not that THAT's a happy thought, but when I read about the fact that it's nothing to blame on our beautiful First Lady. ;) I'm very glad the record is set straight on THAT matter. ;)
We're still under smoky skies here; we had a little rain this morning, cooler temps (100 vs. 105) and higher humidity, which helps some. Good masks do, too. :)
